Mental Health Network (Greater Glasgow) is a network of people and their carers with a lived experience of mental health problems. We were established as an independent charity in 2001 and at present have over 800 members. We were set up by a group of people with a lived experience of mental ill health who wanted a greater say in how they were treated while using mental health services and how they could better shape these services for others in the future.
We enable participation of people with a lived experience of mental ill health to improve their treatment and support by enabling them to become involved in the strategic planning and evaluation of mental health services in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS area. We also engage directly with people currently receiving treatment and support for their mental ill health and their carers in order to allow them to comment on such services.
We require an experience Capacity Building Worker for the organisation. The post holder must be suitably experienced and be able to demonstrate commitment to capacity building/development of service user and carer involvement. They must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse community at all times.
The principle role will be to increase and improve the capacity for effective and influential service user and carer involvement in the planning, decision making and implementation of adult mental health services within the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.
Applicants for the post must be able to build strong relationships within local communities and be able to work flexibly in a busy and challenging environment. They must be able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a small team.
