We are excited to announce the opportunity for a Project and Policy Officer to join the SYP team. Working within SYPs youth led structure, this role will be to support on the delivery of our projects and policy work across the organisation. Including supporting Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament, project participants, support workers, SYP staff and other key stakeholders. This post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme.

We have identified the need for a development worker role which will suit an experienced youth worker/educator who is passionate about empowering and upskilling young people on the Scottish Islands on sustainability, climate change and carbon neutral initiatives. We have a vacancy for an Employability Support Worker (Schools) to deliver a yearlong employability skills programme to young people in S4 at school in East Lothian identified as leaving in to a negative destination. The post holder will deliver tailored support packages to young people enabling them to create and realise their career pathways and progress in to post school opportunities. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with all 6 high schools in East Lothian to develop the service.
It is essential that candidates have a full, clean driving licence and constant use of a car. Membership of the PVG scheme will be an essential requirement of the post. The post is funded by East Lothian Council One Council Partnership Fund. A contributory company pension scheme is offered with a 10% employer contribution.

The post holder will support young people to gain employability skills, life skills and accreditation; helping them in to work, apprenticeships, further education or vocational training. The successful candidate will provide vocational/industry specific accreditation and training to groups of young people alongside individual support to address particular barriers. They will create, design and develop a programme of delivery which will provide young people with clear pathways to positive destinations and sustainable and fair work.
