Role

The Distress Brief Intervention (DBI) programme is an innovative Scottish Government pilot project, which offers rapid referral to solution-focussed support for people aged over 16 who are experiencing distress. Support in Mind Scotland has successfully led the programme in Inverness (one of 4 test-site areas) for since 2017, co-ordinating the contribution of multiple partner agencies and providing solution-focussed support to people who are referred to DBI by front-line services. In April 202, the Scottish Government announced that DBI would be extended across the whole of Scotland as a response to the Covid-19 crisis. As part of this important extension of the programme Support in Mind will provide support for people in the Highlands, Argyll and Bute, the Western Isles and Dumfries and Galloway who are experiencing distress related to Covid-19.

We are now seeking senior staff to lead both the core programme in Inverness and the extended Covid-19 response. As one of two DBI Senior Coordinators, you will have a key role in the DBI team, training and supervising DBI staff and working closely with the National Project Manager on development of the DBI project. In your role, you will have a responsibility to ensure that our work to support people in distress is delivered to a high standard and within the framework agreed with the Scottish Government and the DBI Programme Board. You will Line Manage DBI Level 2 staff to achieve our outcomes. You will work closely with the DBI National Project Manager and co-ordinate the work of the DBI Level 2 team. Additionally, you will contribute to the evidence base required to enable the Government to make decisions about the future of the work in Scotland. Together with the DBI National Project Manager, you ensure that we involve all stakeholders in the DBI programme, and that we develop a comprehensive understanding and map of the services and facilities available to support people to manage their distress and develop plans to prevent future episodes.
