The Coalition of Carers in Scotland (COCIS) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic person to support carer engagement with South Asian carer communities. This will include, supporting and extending our BAME Carers Workers Forum, establishing Carers Voices Networks for carers from South Asian communities, facilitating learning events and building our online networks. This will support carers to feel part of a larger carer network, to have their views and experiences listened to, and to contribute to local and national changes which support their wellbeing

The South Asian Carer Engagement Officer is a specialist role to support the Coalition of Carers in Scotland to deliver a culturally competent service to carers from South Asian communities. This role requires a strong commitment, desire, ability and preferably bilingual skills to reach out to carers from South Asian communities.

In addition, applicants must have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering online, in-person and hybrid engagement and learning events. . They must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to network and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. A good understanding of the current health and social care environment will also be beneficial.

We are looking for a Mental Health Development Worker (21 hours per week) to join our small, friendly team in the Scottish Borders.

Your role will be to help people with lived experience (and their unpaid carers) to be involved in health and social care settings. This post has a specific role to develop co-production by:

• supporting people with lived experience to be actively involved in the planning process to improve health and social care services in Scottish Borders
• developing ways for them to continue to be involved in all aspects of service design and delivery.

You will promote, facilitate and support the Scottish Borders Mental Health and Wellbeing Forum (MHWF), including the role it plays in wider planning around mental health. You will also encourage and support people with lived experience to enable them to have meaningful involvement and carry out representative roles. This can include offering emotional support and coaching, if required. You’ll work with Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders to facilitate co-production with people who have lived experience of mental ill health and represent the collective views of people you support when needed.

Responsible to the member of the management/coordinator team and working as directed by the management/co-ordination team, Short Breaks Bureau Link Workers (SBBLW) works closely with staff, volunteers, carers and partner organisations to develop, plan and deliver comprehensive information, advice and support services for carers in Lanarkshire. The post holder will help shape and develop Lanarkshire Carers Short Breaks Bureau.

The SBBLW will help develop and promote good practice that improves access to short breaks. They will work collaboratively with the management/co-ordination team with activity related to the work of the Short Breaks Bureau and the wider organisation.

If you have three years’ experience supporting young people, aged 16 – 25, in school and/or the community, have relevant qualifications and are up for a new challenge with a carer support organisation, part of an exciting collaboration of three carer support organisations supporting young carers and young adult carers across Edinburgh then we want to talk to you.

Founded by Carers in 1998 Capital Carers is a highly regarded charity providing carer support to unpaid carers of all ages. Our Ethos is to provide unpaid carers with a range of high quality support services which enable them to have some normality of life whilst carrying out their caring role. Our Vision is that all carers get the help and support they need to sustain their caring role.

Our partnership has secured a five year contract with possible extensions to deliver appropriate support services to young carers and young adult carers in schools/colleges and in the community across Edinburgh. You will work a flexible 35 hour week to include some evening work and occasional weekend working.
