MULTI-CULTURAL FAMILY BASE is an innovative organisation which seeks to improve the lives of children and families with the principles of equality, social justice and anti-discrimination at its core. Approximately 50% of our multidisciplinary workforce is from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background.
The organisation’s key objective is to support BAME individuals, children and parents deal with important transition points - this can be the birth of a child, the move into primary school or the move to Edinburgh for families who are refugee and asylum seekers or new migrants. In addition, we combine our service delivery with practice learning by providing high quality and diverse placement opportunities for social work students from academic institutions across Scotland.
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for two skilled, experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our team:
Project Worker in 4-2-7 project (14-21 hrs)
The 4-2-7 Project is for children aged 4 to 7 years, who may be experiencing difficulties managing the transition to primary school. You will have a relevant professional qualification and experience of group and individual interventions with children from four to 7 years who are likely to experience disadvantage or discrimination due to their race, ethnicity or cultural backgrounds.
This post is funded initially for a fixed period until July 2023 with the possibility of an extension, dependent on funding.
Project Worker in Bright Choices project (30 hrs)
The Bright Choices Project offers practical and emotional support and advice to women, children and men from BAME communities who are experiencing, or at risk of, honour-based violence and abuse such as forced marriage and female genital mutilation. You must have good knowledge and understanding of the legislative and cultural issues affecting BAME women, children and young people as well as relevant experience in both individual case and group work.
This post is funded initially for a fixed period until September 2023 with the possibility of an extension, dependent on funding.
