Working at a local and national level, Visibility Scotland aims to affect positive change and improve outcomes for
visually impaired people, of all ages. We want to empower and encourage children and adults to focus on what
they can do; not what they cannot.
Visibility Scotland is now seeking to recruit a Patient Support Worker to become part of a person-centred team,
predominantly based within Edinburgh Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion. This post may require occasional travel to
hospital sites in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to provide cover as and when required.
The post-holder will liaise with patients, family members and professionals to ensure that people experiencing
changes to their daily life due to a visual impairment receive the correct support at the right time. The post
holder must have excellent communication skills and the innate desire to provide inclusive support to all.
The Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Eye Clinic Patient Support service provides a bridge between the clinic to the
community. The successful post holder will enable seamless service provision, directly referring to Sight
Scotland’s Visual Impairment Adult Rehabilitation and Mobility Services and Edinburgh Health and Social Care
Social Work Locality Teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated and ambitious organisation. The successful candidate will ideally
have a proven track record in health and social care or the willingness and motivation to learn. The post holder
must have a ‘can do’ attitude and a positive team spirit.
