Home-Start Glasgow South is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with young children. To expand our volunteer base, we are looking to recruit a Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience promoting volunteering and recruiting volunteers. The role requires a strong communicator with an exceptional personality.

Hours: There is potential for this role to be 4- or 5-days (28- or 35-hours) per week. Please state preference in application form

*Location:Children in Scotland is Edinburgh based but, until further notice, this role will be remote/home-based, with some travel to Edinburgh required for meetings and the option of use of office space in Edinburgh and/or Glasgow. Arrangements will be reviewed, with staff involvement, throughout the 2022-23 year.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a national children’s charity leading an award-winning, innovative and friendly team, while knowing that you are contributing to making positive difference to the lives of children in Scotland.

Pre-Covid19, we planned, delivered, and evaluated approximately 250 learning and connection opportunities with more than 4,000 delegates each year. This included conferences, training, residentials and international study trips.

In response to the pandemic, we moved our programme online reaching more than 6,000 learners in 2020-21. Over the last couple of years, we also launched our eLearning Hub, put on an international conference and delivered an online Learning Week. We have recently successfully delivered our first in-person events and are planning the delivery of a hybrid Learning Programme this year, including the return of a flagship Annual Conference in November. Busy times!

We are looking a motivated and innovative manager to help shape the future of our Learning Programme, lead the team through a period of change and support the work of the wider organisation.

This will include continuing to develop our online programme, while considering our gradual return to in-person events at the right point in time. We are looking for a positive, proactive and values-led individual, who is well-positioned to bring their individual experiences and skills to Children in Scotland.

You will need excellent communications skills and experience of managing projects including leading staff or volunteers, partnership working and a good understanding of budgets in a values-driven organisation.

You will use your experience in learning and development or event management to ensure our Learning Programme remains sector-leading, with a diverse, inspiring range of content, contributors and delivery methods. You will be supported in this by the L&E team and Engagement & Learning Department, but also the wider organisation including our ASL services and Policy, Projects & Participation department.

You will be remote/home-based with some travel to Edinburgh and Glasgow required for meetings but, as the impact of Covid reduces and we deliver more in-person events, there will be the opportunity to travel across Scotland and beyond.

You will be ready to hit the ground running but we will offer you an excellent induction and support through those first few months, which will then turn into longer term development opportunities. You will join a brilliant group of supportive staff who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives and work hard to achieve this.

The NSPCC Schools Service is an integral part of our mission to protect children from all forms of abuse. It is responsible for delivering the ‘Speak Out Stay Safe’ programme. This aims to give children an understanding and awareness of abuse in all its forms and how to recognise the signs. It reassures children that abuse is never a child’s fault, that they have the right to be safe, and it shows them where to get help and the resources available to them, including our Childline service.

Reporting to the Schools Service Manager you will be the single point of contact for all schools in your area. You will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of the NSPCC school offer. Working to set targets, you will supervise, recruit, train and retain a team of local volunteers who will deliver elements of our schools offer in line with national standards and safeguarding guidelines.

As a member of the local services team, you will work with local colleagues across the region to maximise service reach. You will be an active contributor to projects and workstreams, sharing learning and experience to help drive and develop our offer for schools and grow our service

You will represent the NSPCC and seek opportunities to work externally with our key partners and stakeholders, such as local authorities and the media, to capitalise on the impact and reach of our services for children.

We are looking for people with well-developed skills in building relationships and networks with key safeguarding leads and the local community. About the role

The role will manage all aspects of The Spark’s digital strategy and engagement activities, maximising the organisations profile across multiple platforms.

• Developing, managing and evaluating digital marketing campaigns across multiple channels including pay per click, social media, SEO, SEM, Google Ads and Google Grants to achieve lead generation and strategic objectives
• Evaluating and reporting on ROI for all digital marketing activities against KPIs
• Developing, managing and evaluating content and social media strategy for the organisation
• Managing the digital publishing schedule and setting content deadlines and collating content from colleagues
• Ensuring the organisation’s website adheres to organic SEO best practices
• Managing day-to-day operation of the organisation’s website, social media platforms and e-communications, including:
  • Managing all front-end elements of the website via CMS
  • Writing regular content and ghost-writing articles on behalf of colleagues for the web
  • Managing customer databases, writing, collating and sending regular e-communications
  • Managing website analytics, providing regular reports and analysis to management, external funders and stakeholders, and provide strategic recommendations for future activity
  • Producing engaging, unique and accurate content for the website and digital channels
• Working with internal teams across Customer Service, Training and School Services to develop, implement and evaluate project-specific digital marketing campaigns to achieve strategic objectives
• Appointing and working with external agencies where appropriate to provide:
  • Website technical support
  • Website development including usability, design, content and conversion
  • Digital assets and content
• Responsibility for planning and budgetary control of all digital marketing activities
• Communicating with partners in relation to digital marketing activities
• Researching and identifying new digital marketing opportunities
