About the Role

The Project Officer will help to deliver our Active Travel programme across Forth Valley. The successful candidate will work with schools, employers and the general public in supporting cycle training, led rides/walks, bike maintenance classes, ebike and ecargo bike demonstrations whilst also delivering national active travel campaigns on behalf of our partners. The Project Officer should be proactive and seek out new partnerships whilst also helping with FEL’s wider activity, including co-development of our climate work, and participating in developing new services and ideas.

About the Role

The Project Officer will help to deliver our Active Travel programme across Forth Valley. The successful candidate will lead on our digital presence and take responsibility for our external communications. The role will co-ordinate digital content on social media, websites, newsletters and other platforms with a focus on active travel. The candidate should actively encourage new audiences and partnerships through our media. The Project Officer will support cycle training, led rides/walks, bike maintenance classes, ebike and ecargo bike demonstrations whilst also delivering national active travel campaigns on behalf of our partners. The Project Officer will help with FEL’s wider activity, including co-development of our climate work, and participating in developing new services and ideas.

Energy Saving Trust delivers zero-emission vehicle fleet support via the Welsh Government Energy Service. Funded by and on behalf of the Welsh Government. A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the transport team as a Technical Manager. You’ll work in the fast-moving area of transport decarbonisation and sustainable, zero emission transport, as the UK heads towards its 2050 net zero ambition.

The role

• Contribute towards Energy Saving Trust’s objective of becoming the market leader in the provision of sustainable transport services
• Responsible for the successful management, development, delivery, and reporting of the Energy Service zero-emission transport activity
• Ensure that the Energy Service responds to changing market conditions and maintains a robust pipeline of deliverable fleet transition and EV charging infrastructure projects
• Interpret and present findings in a compelling way, suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences through reports and presentations
• Ensure Energy Saving Trust’s sustainable transport services are delivered to a consistently high quality and are meeting client needs

About you

You are organised and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You have excellent time management skills; you can think and plan strategically and have a solutions-based outlook to work. You are self-motivated and possess a can-do attitude, excellent computer skills (in particular Excel) and a hunger to learn.

Reporting to the Programme Manager - Fleet Support, our successful candidate will be responsible for helping deliver a range of existing and new transport projects for public sector clients.

You will have strong data analysis skills, a sound knowledge of zero-emission transport (possibly from the EV charge point sector) and a firm grasp of the key carbon reduction targets that have been set in the UK. Finally, you will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to form lasting productive relationships with both internal and external colleagues.

This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. We are open to flexible working patterns. Blended (a mix of home and office-based) working and home-working is possible for this role.

As the world’s leading independent conservation organisation, we are working to create a future where nature and people can thrive. We are facing a climate and nature emergency in the ocean with the loss of coastal ecosystems and fisheries, with significant knock-on impacts on livelihoods. In Scotland we are working to repair the damage done and the Restoration Forth programme is a key project in our strategy. As Project Manager you will help establish a blueprint for community-led marine restoration. The start is to mobilise local people to help restore seagrass beds and native oysters in an area of the Firth of Forth. Overtime we expect to extend the project to the whole region as well as use its undoubted success to inspire marine restoration in other communities around Scotland.

Day-to-day, you will work with a range of local and national partners to deliver a programme of coastal habitat restoration and community engagement. You will head the project steering group and take responsibility for partnership grant management. We will look to you to create project plans, assess risk, monitor progress and control budgets. You will oversee stakeholder engagement too, liaising with colleagues to provide regular updates and high-quality reports to donors. You will also contribute towards the wider WWF Scotland strategy as well as work with our seascape programme team to save critical habitats across the UK. Important will be the ability to develop programme learning that can be used as evidence to underpin our overall advocacy and campaigning.

To join the fight for our planet, you must have successfully delivered projects and programmes to time, budget and quality standards. You will be used to monitoring and evaluating delivery too. You will also possess a good understanding of marine and/or coastal environments. Critically, you will be experienced in bringing together a wide range of stakeholders and creating a culture of collaborative working. A strategic thinker, you will possess strong communication and influencing skills as well as the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
