Edinburgh Food Project was established with the aim of reducing the effects of food poverty in Edinburgh by providing emergency food parcels to those in the community most in need. Over the last three years, we have been transitioning our 8 foodbank centres into “More than Food” hubs to allow our clients to access dedicated support to help them with their immediate and underlying problems to reduce/eliminate their need for food bank assistance and build their financial resilience for the future.

Working within the Money Advice Service, the role of Benefits/Debt Adviser supports clients with a range of debt (and related) issues, providing advice and information in person, via email and on the phone.

The successful candidate will use independent information sources and internal tools available to provide holistic debt and/or budgeting advice, reviewing and translating complex information to clients to ensure they understand the debt options available to them.

To be successful, you will have recent experience of delivering generalist advice on a wide range of topics, such as debt, housing and welfare, in line with the Scottish National Standards. In additional you will excellent communication and IT skills and have the ability to analyse, interpret and record information to the required quality standards.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and experienced individual, ideally with a charitable organisation background, to join us to support and promote the work of Families Outside through our HR function.

Families Outside is the only national organisation in Scotland working exclusively on behalf of families affected by imprisonment. The organisation exists because the negative impact imprisonment has on the children and families left behind, often leading to longer-term hardship and exclusion. Our purpose is to improve outcomes for children and families affected by imprisonment so they can live lives free from stigma and disadvantage.

The HR Advisor role provides employee-focused advice and support, utilising excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills to drive employee engagement.

The successful candidate will have substantial and demonstrable generalist HR knowledge and experience covering all major HR functions including recruitment and selection, induction, learning and development, employee engagement and reward, performance management, and employment legislation. You will provide a generalist in-house HR service and work closely with managers and employees across the organisation, offering advice and support where required. Ideally this experience would include a third sector environment.

This role will be based in our Edinburgh office, but Families Outside has introduced a blended working policy to allow our staff to balance their time attending the office with time working from home. The number of days you will be expected to attend the office each week can be discussed as part of the recruitment process.

Digital Development Officer: Young People Leading Digital Change 3-year funded project.

Crew is an award-winning national charity, based in Edinburgh, at the forefront of tackling new and emerging trends in substance use. Crew seeks to reduce harm from drug use and improve public health without judgement with people who take drugs and drug services, working with a wide range of local, national, and international partners.

We’re looking for a youth worker with strong digital communications skills to develop our new online service offering low-threshold drug and sexual health information, advice and support, working collaboratively with young people, the Drop-in and wider Crew teams. You’ll facilitate opportunities for peer education for young people aged 12-25, working with Crew’s volunteer peer educators, as well as responding to enquiries from the public.

The Peeblesshire Foodbank is looking for a Local Organiser, someone who can research the key drivers of poverty in this area and work with the public and politicians to influence policy, working towards ending the need for foodbanks.

The Local Organiser is responsible for building and leading a volunteer team to develop and deliver local influencing strategies for and with the Peeblesshire Foodbank, organising in your community to campaign for change. You will be the link between the Peeblesshire Foodbank and the Organising and Local Mobilisation team at Trussell Trust, as we build a movement to end the need for food banks. Full training will be given.

Key Responsibilities:

• To develop and manage a team of volunteers, building and distributing leadership across the team, within the Peeblesshire Foodbank, to work on local influencing to reduce poverty and the need for food banks.
• To explore and understand the experiences that are bringing people to need the food bank’s support, working with food bank staff and volunteers, through listening activities and/or research.
• To map out and build relationships with the food bank’s partners, referral agencies and local anti-poverty organisations, and to engage them in identifying the local drivers of poverty.
• To identify a local issue driving poverty, build a campaign team and develop a strategy to build power and win change, working with food bank staff and volunteers.
• To deliver the local influencing campaign working with food bank staff and volunteers.
• To work with the OLM team and engage with the training and support on offer, including work with other Local Organisers in the Trussell Trust network
• To engage in Trussell Trust’s central priority campaign activities, working with the food bank and local community

About you

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

• Experience of campaigning or organising to achieve a change.
• Experience managing and working with volunteers.
• Experience of community outreach in the local area.
• Good project management skills, able to balance a range of priorities.
• Clean driving licence
