Founded as a Christian Charity in 1983, HealthLink360 [SC000948] is Scotland's leading provider of support to missionaries, aid agency workers, medical relief teams and volunteers who undertake overseas work in challenging and often hostile environments. Additionally, we provide support here in Scotland to school groups preparing to travel, to the local community with counselling and working with Church organisations, assessing their candidates for Christian ministry.

Embracing our ethos of 'whole person care for global workers' HealthLink360 provides a unique service offering a comprehensive range of medical, psychological and travel health services both in person, at our Travel Clinic just outside Edinburgh, both on site and online.

HealthLink360 was born out of the personal experiences of its founders, the experience of those who travel internationally to work, often in intense and high-risk environments, only to return home physically or mentally fragile. We provide an expert level of care to our clients before they go, during their assignment and when they return.

For 35years we have worked with numerous other charities and organisations, including Medecine Sans Frontieres, the NHS Ebola team to prepare their overseas volunteers for assignment and most recently preparing the UK Med Team for their mission work in Ukraine.

The Role

Due to careful governance during the pandemic, HealthLink360 is now seeing a rapid rise in demand for services. We have made a surplus each of the last two financial years, despite covid. In September 2021 we appointed an interim CEO to help us evaluate the future of the organisation. We are now confident about our future and wish to appoint a new permanent CEO for the next stage of the journey.

Based at Carberry in East Lothian, the role involves leading the team in day-to-day matters as well as working with the trustees, monitoring performance, and setting the future direction of the organisation. The role is 3 days a week, with the clinic currently operating on a Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday. This opportunity would suit individuals from a variety of different backgrounds. However proven operational team leadership (over a minimum of 3 years) and budgetary experience are essential. Experience of some of the following would be advantageous: Organisational leadership, charity leadership & governance, health sector (either management or clinical), fundraising, marketing and working with board of trustees.

yrshire Cancer Support (ACS) is Ayrshire’s leading cancer support charity, providing free practical and emotional support for people affected by cancer. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the senior management team to lead the vital income and communications work of the charity.

For over 40 years, ACS has provided free lifeline services to people affected by cancer across Ayrshire. The charity relies on fundraising and income generation to offer a comprehensive range of key services including therapeutic support; hospital transport and emotional support at centres in Ayr and Kilmarnock. The recent acquisition of a new property in Ayr means plans are underway to further extend this provision to children and young people.

The Director of Income and Communications role is a pivotal leadership position within ACS, given the organisation’s reliance on income generation to ensure services are free to all who need them. The charity is therefore seeking an exceptional and inspiring individual to lead this work and direct the work of a dedicated fundraising and communications team.

In this role, you will report directly to the CEO and be accountable for income generation and communications strategies; for leading flagship campaigns and for building and maintaining key relationships as a strategic partner. You will drive the charities long term digital outreach and engagement work, supporting your team to understand its messaging and audiences in order to convert support into clear targets for donations, corporate giving and fundraising.

You will be an experienced leader with the ability to inspire and motivate your team to be high performing. A strategic thinker, you will provide effective support to the CEO in delivering strategic priorities whilst offering reliable expertise gained through a successful track record in income generation. You’ll understand the digital tools needed to support excellence in communications and marketing and you will bring ideas, enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising as well as knowledge of the requirements that guide good practice in this field. You don’t have to have been a senior manager to apply. You may be someone who has led projects, is a skilled team manager, has proven fundraising expertise, and is now hungry to take the next step into a senior leadership role.

You will be a people person who is entrepreneurial, creative, adaptable, resilient and outcome driven with high standards of integrity. You will have excellent communication skills and will be comfortable speaking with and presenting to a wide range of audiences – from families affected by cancer and members of the public who fundraise for the charity, to clinicians and health professionals, funders and major donors. The key will be your ability to relate to others and to build meaningful relationships that bring tangible outcomes. Most importantly, your values will truly align with ASC – compassion, kindness and care, delivered with integrity - and you will bring a strong desire and motivation to make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer and a determination that the services ASC provide remain free and accessible to those who need them.

West Dunbartonshire Community Drug Services

To lead the programme of corporate accountability for clinical governance and clinical performance across Alternatives WD CDS including Safe As Houses. This will involve developing, monitoring and maintaining systems to enable departments to achieve full compliance with clinical standards. This will also include leading and managing the clinical nurse in the management of incidents, the learnings and the outcomes.

People with arthritis in Scotland face a challenging time post COVID. Versus Arthritis wants to make a difference across our health and research to make effective and lasting change. We are looking for a strong leader who will be a determined advocate for people with arthritis working closely with the Scottish Government, NHS Health Boards, making alliances and partnerships.

We have big ambitions, and all of our activities must work together to deliver these. In this way we will build recognition of the impact of arthritis. We will catalyse and galvanise communities across the UK who push back against arthritis. We will find discover, innovate, and enable new solutions, directly provide these and influence others to make big change happen. Critical to success is growing our income and creating a sustainable organisation equipped and able to deliver the support and solutions that people will look for.

About the role

You will be a key figure in the external landscape for Versus Arthritis, leading all external affairs and stakeholder management in Scotland, and acting as the main point of contact for current and potential partners in health and social care, public health and government.

Internally, you will provide strategic leadership, insight and intelligence to ensure a 4-nation approach to decision making at the highest level of the organisation; Board, CEO and Organisational Leadership Team. You will work collaboratively across all directorates to support effective planning to operationalise Versus Arthritis strategies across all four nations; including delivery, influence, research, funding and communications.

As the most senior member of staff based in Scotland you will also play an integral leadership role in developing and maintaining a sense of community, connection and nation identity for all staff and volunteers working in nation focused roles.

This role will ensure the needs, priorities and opportunities within each nation inform our organisational priorities.

Key requirements

You will demonstrate:

• A significant understanding of the charity sector in Scotland and the dynamics around business decision making, change and strategic planning.
• Good experience of knowledge of the policy and public affairs environment across Scotland. Good experience or knowledge of leading wide policy, public affairs and campaigning in nation.
• Experience of working with and/or supporting people with long-term health conditions/disabilities at a strategic level.
• Ability to influence, negotiate and persuade others in a wide setting including senior leaders in the organisation, external stakeholders, and internal colleagues.
• Strong programme management and organisational ability, including being able to prioritise activities and independently manage own workload that includes multiple strands of work.
• Strategic thinking – ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise.
