Role

We are looking for a relational, child-centred, and resilient person to join our team, ensuring that children’s rights and quality are at the heart of the Safeguarders Panel. The Safeguarders Panel Team (SPT) recruit, support, provide learning opportunities and monitor Safeguarders. We collaborate with partner agencies and deliver all other operational tasks associated with Safeguarder appointments.

The Safeguarders Panel Team at Children 1st is established as an integral feature of the Children’s Hearing landscape, contracted by the Scottish Government until at least June 2023 (potentially 2024) to manage the national Safeguarders Panel.

The Contract Co-ordinator will have regular contact with Safeguarders and will form strong and nurturing relationships with key partners within the Children’s Hearing System and other relevant professional.

In the role of Contract Co-ordinator, you will contribute to the oversight of the administrative support function of the Safeguarders Panel Team. You will also take a lead role in leading and supervising the allocation of Safeguarders to children and young people, and ensure that the process runs effectively and efficiently, and in the best interests of the child. This role also has line-management responsibilities.

You must have a good knowledge of the Children’s Hearings System, excellent administration, IT & communication skills, as well as excellent written and verbal reporting skills. We are looking for someone who has a child-centered approach, has the ability to use their own initiative, can problem solve, and adopt a flexible approach in response to new challenges or pressure. The ability to work with minimal direction is key to this role, while using sound judgement and strong decision-making skills.

The role is based within our Edinburgh office, and there is some flexibility to work from home where this meets the needs of the service, Children 1st operates flexible working guidelines to facilitate flexible working within Service needs and you will enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement.
