About the role

An exciting opportunity for a creative, imaginative individual to take forward the role of communications officer in Sustrans Scotland’s Communications Team.

This is a rewarding job in which you will support the Senior Communications Officers, writing press releases, social media content while working closely with internal and external partners; such as local authorities and the Scottish Canals Trust.

Working primarily with two busy delivery areas and providing vital assistance to senior colleagues supporting our expanding programme of work – projects which are making it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle. This is a rewarding job in which you will work closely with internal and external partners, communicating via social media and directly with media organisations across Scotland, as well as other relevant agencies.

We are very open to what this might look like, and ideally you will add to our team by bringing new ideas and innovation in the way we communicate with our partners and audiences.

This role may require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within commutable distance to a local hub in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with hybrid home working available.

About you

You will have experience working in a communications environment, with the ability to write and / or edit engaging content for publications, press releases and websites.

Your communication skills, both oral and written, should be exemplary; allowing you to interact with diverse audiences and build relationships with ease.

You should have experience working with creative colleagues and agencies, applying brand and style guidelines with a good understanding of the business communications environment, including media, digital and marketing.

We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups. Sustrans is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion.
