Role
PURPOSE OF THE POST
You will undertake preventative work that helps tackle the root cause of domestic abuse through changing perceptions and attitudes towards domestic abuse. You will also provide the highest possible standard of service to women, children and young people.
• To promote the work of DWA in the local and wider community
• To support the CYP Manager, CEO, Depute CEO and colleagues in achieving team and DWA objectives and in identifying areas for improvement

The role of the Duty Crisis Support Worker is to provide a confidential, safe and supportive information service to women and agencies who contact EWA through the crisis phone line and/or ‘drop in’ service, and where appropriate to also assess women, and any accompanying children who are affected by domestic abuse, for refuge accommodation.
*These roles are predominantly office based. Workers will be on site in our Cheyne Street office to receive drop-ins, make and receive calls and to take referrals.
Hemat Gryffe Women’s Aid are seeking to recruit a Women’s Support Worker who will be based in refuge supporting women and assisting women when leaving refuge to settle into permanent accommodation via the follow-on service.

Established in 1981, Hemat Gryffe women’s Aid is a feminist organisation and Scotland’s first women’s aid project providing refuge accommodation, outreach, and follow-on services primarily to women, children, and young people from the Asian Black and Minority Ethnic Community experiencing domestic abuse, forced marriage and honour-based abuse.
About you
You will have experience of working with vulnerable women from minority ethnic backgrounds experiencing gender-based abuse.
You will be bilingual and speak English and Hindi, Punjabi, or Urdu
All staff are expected to promote equality and anti-discriminatory practices working with women primarily from the Asian, Black and Minority Ethnic Community experiencing domestic abuse, forced marriage and honour-based abuse from their husbands, partners, or extended family members.
Women's Support Worker – Refuge based

To provide housing & support services to Women who have been subjected to domestic abuse. The post holder will work directly with women offering crisis intervention, information, support, and advocacy services.
