Role

Home-Start Lorn is a well-established local organisation that has been working with volunteers to support families with young children in the Oban area for over 30 years. Our strategic goal is to ensure that every family, with a child under 5 years of age, can utilise the support we provide, so as to give their children the best possible start in life, so they are able to take up and benefit from the opportunities available to them. Last year 88 families including almost 200 children were supported by staff and a team of 24 volunteers.

We have recently been funded to expand our service to provide support to all families living in the Helensburgh area, including those Royal Navy families attached to Faslane. We are looking to appoint a manager for Home-Start Helensburgh who will help us develop a service in the Helensburgh area, utilising the experience and governance framework of Home-Start Lorn with the expectation of establishing a separate service, overseen by a Home-Start Lorn umbrella organisation.

The successful candidate:

  • Has experience of establishing community-based support and has a clear vision of how a Home-Start service can improve the lives of all families living in the Helensburgh area.
  • Shares our passion and ambition for our support for children and families and will help us implement our ambitious plans of ensuring that Home-Start Helensburgh is the go-to voluntary agency that can offer universal family support in the early years.

Home-Start Lorn is committed to equality and diversity and to safe recruitment practice. The post involves regulated work with children and protected adults. PVG Scheme membership is essential.
