Activities 4 All Support Worker 1

Our holiday service supports young people with additional support needs in Edinburgh to enjoy their school holidays with a variety of activities, trips and social opportunities.

About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit Support Workers to work as part of a team providing a safe, caring and fun environment for young people with disabilities during the school holidays in Edinburgh. You may provide personal care (including intimate care), and support young people with aspects of their general welfare to meet their individual needs.

Experience/qualifications/key skills required

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is desirable as is a willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities. You should have a care related SVQ Level 3, or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale. You should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

Relief Workers are required to provide cover in our Self Directed Support Project. Shifts are planned six weekly in advance and relief staff will be allocated working hours as per service requirements. Relief Workers will be supporting people in their own home with aspects of daily living, social and recreational activities, as well as enabling them to develop meaningful relationships and establish links within the local area.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the values and attitude required to work with people who are living with mental health problems and who may have complex needs.

Applicants for all posts must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working may be required.

Would you like to join an exciting and unique service for Armed Forces veterans with a vision impairment?

Our Linburn Centre in Wilkieston is an activity hub to support the independence of armed forces veterans with sight loss. We are looking for a driver to help us transport our members to and from the service. The role involves driving a variety of routes locally, assisting members use the transport safely and routine maintenance of minibuses and cars.

You must be eligible to drive a minibus (hold a D1 Licence if applicable) and have a clean current driving licence. Good time keeping and reliability are essential. The Linburn Centre will be open during daytime hours Monday-Friday, with some occasional requirement for weekend or evening work. Please note that the hours for this role are 20 per week, these will be worked over 5 days and you will be required to do split shifts, covering the morning and afternoon transport arrangements.

Purpose of Job

• To be responsible for the wellbeing and development of residents and the day to day running of a household.
• To take an active interest in issues regarding the whole community.

Major Tasks

• To be responsible for the safety and welfare of all living and working in the household.
• To support and supervise the volunteers and employed staff in the household.
• To co-ordinate the daily living arrangements in the household and to ensure that all aspects of the care provided in the household comply with SSSC codes of practice and standards agreed by the Community in accordance with best professional residential care practice.
• To be responsible for the management of the finances of the household and, as appropriate, to assist residents in the handling of their money.
• To liaise with workshop leaders to ensure that Residents’ needs are met within their work environment.
• To identify and ensure that the training needs of volunteers and employed staff in the house are met.
• To uphold and contribute to the social/therapeutic impulse, as part of the Camphill philosophy. To be present and actively participate in the annual festivals.
• Co-ordination and implementation of driving duties required for the household. Car driving is an essential part of this role covering tasks such as taking residents to healthcare and various other appointments, shopping with residents, attending reviews etc.
• Any other reasonable duties, as and when required, to meet Corbenic’s needs. ​​
