Children and Young People’s Support Worker

Role

Shakti is a feminist Black Minority Ethnic voluntary organisation which offers information, emotional/practical support and refuge/temporary accommodation to all Black Minority Ethnic women and their children, who are experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse.

The above post holder will be supporting Black Minority Ethnic children and young people whose mothers or the children themselves have experienced domestic abuse; support mothers as needed. Applicants must have at least 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people; an understanding of forced marriage and the effects of the cultural issues surrounding domestic abuse.

Applicants must have a minimum of HNC in Childcare or relevant qualifications (A degree in social work or community education).

  • Successful applicants will be subjected to disclosure checks through the PVG Scheme.
