Help transform the lives of young adults with special needs every day
Beannachar is a special place. Located on a beautiful 28-acre estate only two miles from Aberdeen city, it provides a
therapeutic and supportive space that transforms the lives of young adults with additional support needs.
Part of the Camphill worldwide community, Beannachar exists to provide a place where everyone can find purpose and
belonging. With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers from all over the world, young adults are supported to
uncover their latent potential and unique talents as they transition to adulthood. With a commitment to the
environment and sustainability at its core, Beannachar has a walled garden; working farm; numerous craft,
land-based and garden workshops and has both residential students living in accommodation on the Estate and a
Day Service for non – residential students, all of which provide an enriching working, social and cultural
environment to nurture student potential.
The senior leadership team is a newly formed team with some recent appointments but with a wealth of diverse and
relevant experience which has created a dynamic, solution-focused and ambitious team where providing the best
possible lives and outcomes for the students is the principal driver.
Beannachar is now seeking a compassionate and experienced Residential Service Manager to join them. This is a
variable and diverse role providing leadership and management and accountable to the Executive Director which
includes:
• Holding the overall operational responsibilities for the care and support arrangements of the residential
students.
• Working in partnership with the colleagues in the Management Team in upholding Beannachar’s ethos and values and
sharing responsibility for the strategic direction of the Community.
• Working directly with the House Coordinators in the house communities at Beannachar (currently four houses), the
Day Service Manager and workshop leaders in promoting the wellbeing of students.
• Delivering on a positive approach to compliance with the regulatory framework in which the organisation must
operate.
You should have previous experience in the Health and Care sector with a SVQ Level 9 in Social Services &
Healthcare and SVQ Level 10 in Care Services Leadership & Management. As you will support the preparation
work required for the Care Inspectorate reviews you should have a clear understanding of regulations, guidelines
and required policies to ensure compliance.
We’re looking for someone whose values and ethos align with those of Camphill; someone who can ensure the student
experience is person-centred and kept at the heart of everything Beannachar does. You should be inspiring and
engaging; able to form great relationships while remaining professional; be calm and level headed with the
ability to think on your feet, organised and compassionate.
The care sector has both challenges and opportunities, and we need you to be resilient in managing challenges to
change. However, this is a rare and exciting opportunity to manage a truly person-centred community, committed
to realising the best in everyone. Each day may be varied however what remains constant is knowing you’re
transforming the lives of young adults with additional support needs every single day.
