If you are as passionate as we are about young people’s voices being at the heart of designing, developing and evaluating the services they access, and the decisions which affect them, then we would love to hear from you!
About the role
Cyrenians’ ‘Our Future Leaders’ project drives our commitment to #KeepThePromise. We believe strongly that young people should have meaningful input into our service design and delivery. As an organisation we are committed to improving and developing in this area and being a leader in youth participation.
The Youth Engagement Leader will be responsible for ensuring young people are involved in decision making that effects them, across the organisation.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with individuals and groups across our services, including our diverse City, Farm and Lotus communities. You’ll also drive and develop our youth forum and ambassadors’ programme, which predominantly involve current and previous communities residents.
You’ll be empowered to create innovative, inclusive opportunities to engage with young people individually and in groups, online and in-person. You’ll work directly alongside them to build their self-confidence, experience and improve our services for youth provision.
As well, you will support your colleagues across the organisation to ensure they are considering how their service design and implementation effects young people and children, their rights and opportunities.
You will be a proactive, creative and experienced Youth Worker. Your open and supportive style will build positive relationships with young people, our volunteers, staff and partners.
You will have a working knowledge of the UNCRC, The Promise, GIRFEC and youth engagement principles. Your passionate belief in the capability of young people will ensure you are confident in supporting colleagues to meet these standards.
How we will support you
You will be joining an organisation which values you and the knowledge, skills and experience which you bring. You’ll join a friendly team with a supportive line manager and you’ll have access to our Cyrenians’ learning and development and staff wellbeing. We are committed to helping you develop and learn in the role. You will be supported to work both from home and within our Edinburgh office.
This role is available full time (37 hours per week) or part time (minimum of 30 hours per week).
