Our Day Care Organisers are responsible for the co-ordination of a Day Opportunities group for Younger People Living with Dementia; this includes assessments, reviews and the planning of activities.
You will find that no two days are the same, and you will need to be flexible. It is an exciting and fast-paced environment which is deeply rewarding. You are there as a facilitator to an active club, enabling group members involvement and engagement in the planning and delivery. Your role will also include supporting the staff and volunteers to provide the same level of support.
The role entails the planning and facilitating of a monthly schedule for the groups. You always need to be thinking ‘what can we do next?’, and this involves lots of networking with different organisations across Edinburgh. You need to ensure everyone feels safe and supported while at the club and when you are out. We offer transport, by car, to and from the club and you will be required to organise that as part of the monthly schedule as well as organising a varied and nutritious snacks and refreshments.
Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia. You will also have good communication skills and a caring attitude. A willingness to learn and participate in training (including SVQ’s) is essential. Relevant qualifications and/or experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.
Full driving license and access to a vehicle during working time is essential for this post.
