Lambhill Stables is a community owned charity in the North of Glasgow providing recreational, educational, training and employment opportunities. Our aims are to develop and deliver programmes of community-based activities in support of our provisions, to engage in viable and socially inclusive activity and to do so in a sustainable way.

This post is currently funded to 31st March 2023, and will require the post holder to provide service and maintenance to customer bikes, and service our fleet of bikes available for community hire.

As the Bike Mechanic the role will require an ability to organise repair jobs and management of personal workloads working as part of the wider staff team, whilst providing a high standard of customer service and community engagement.

There is a further opportunity for the right individual to support in the development of our bike workshop and help it become a pivotal part of our outdoor activities programme.

Key Task and Activities

• Ensure that health and safety and operational delivery is in adherence with written policies and procedures and assist to update these in line with good practice
• Provide bike maintenance within the bike workshop
• Liaise with Lambhill Stables departments to ensure the smooth running of timetabled activities
• Facilitate during bike events promoting initiatives in keeping with the project

Skills and experience required

Technical;

• Cytech level 3 qualified, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience of working in a bike workshop, booking system, cash handling and reconciliation of receipts
• Cycle Leader trained

Operational;

• Friendly, approachable and helpful attitude
• Maintain accurate records of business activity
• Ability to deliver high level of customer experience
• Motivated with excellent communication skills
• Good team worker
• Experience of supervising and training volunteers
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, multi-task effectively and to meet tight deadlines
• Willingness to undertake flexible working hours
• Willingness to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check
• Full driving licence is desirable

The Eric Liddell Community is a local care charity and community hub in the South West of Edinburgh delivering a range of services throughout the City and were founded in 1980 in memory of the 1924 Olympic gold medallist, Eric Liddell.

The Eric Liddell Community is undergoing a period of growth and expansion and a key part of this is our exciting plans for the Eric Liddell 2024 Centenary Initiative, which will develop, secure and celebrate the legacy of “The Flying Scotsman”, Eric Liddell.

The CEO has been asked to lead our plans for 2024 and to support this, we are recruiting a Programme Manager. This is a critical role, that will work closely with the CEO to develop, manage, deliver and implement the Eric Liddell 2024 Centenary Initiative, while working closely with our strategic partners, the 2024 Strategic Leadership Group and our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal.

The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is the national voice of childminding in Scotland. SCMA is a national Third Sector and membership organisation that promotes childminding as a quality childcare service. Working on behalf of its 4,000 childminder members, SCMA helps to improve the wellbeing and outcomes for Scotland’s children and aims to influence policy to ensure that it is informed by the experiences of childminding. We are recruiting a part-time Childminding Development Officer in Glasgow (18 hours post), to support the delivery of community childminding services in that area.

You will have experience of delivering training to adults; an awareness and understanding of families

and the support needed; working collaboratively with key agencies including Early Years: and have an understanding of childminding and the role of childminders.

Excellent organisational and inter-personal skills are required and working as part of a team is

essential. You should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, self-motivation, and highly developed written and oral communication skills.

The post is home-based but will require travel and attendance at meetings within the geographic area (including occasional travel to Head Office in Stirling). Equipment and broadband/IT connections will be provided.

Starting Salary: AP3 PT 23 £23,772 (pro rata) and we operate a contributory pension scheme which

you will be auto-enrolled into (subject to the conditions of the scheme).

Who are we, and what do we need?

The Glencorse Association is a charitable organisation that runs the Glencorse Centre, a community facility located in Auchendinny, about a mile north of Penicuik. We organise community-based activities, to promote the health and welfare of local residents and rent our facilities to local groups and businesses who offer services to the local community. It is vital that we recruit new Board Members to help shape the future of the only service to the community in Auchendinny.

If you are passionate about sustaining a community led service and developing community spaces and would be interested in supporting the Glencorse Association in delivering its mission and vision, we would love to hear from you!

The Role

We are looking for new Board Members who can support with strategic development and augment the range of skills available in the current board so we can develop the community centre, community garden and the services that we offer. We would be particularly interested in new Board Members who have experience in one, or several, of the following domains:

• Third sector organisations and funding applications

• Organising events and fundraising

• A treasurer who can analyse financial performance

• Marketing

• IT and social media development

• Environmental/net zero in a workplace

• Managing volunteers

• Health and safety in the workplace

• GDPR

• Safeguarding

• HR

We are open to any other developmental ideas that you feel you could bring to the Glencorse Association and the local community.

Your skills and interests may have been developed through working for a small or large organisation, working for yourself, volunteering or simply by life experience. You don’t need to have prior experience on a board, we will provide a full induction and help you understand the role and responsibilities of being a Board Member.

A role on the Glencorse Association Board is flexible and we understand that individual personal circumstances may dictate the level of engagement you can offer.

The Board meets monthly for two hours and communicates remotely in between meetings to discuss any urgent matters that have been escalated. The Board holds an annual AGM and all Board Members are expected to attend to reflect on our work and to set strategy and plans for the coming year. Additional opportunities to support the Glencorse Centre's staff and community on specific areas of interest and priority are also available, depending on the Board Member’s interests and experience.
