Who we are

Keep Scotland Beautiful is your charity for Scotland’s environment.

Our vision is for a clean, green, sustainable Scotland. We work with you to help combat climate change, reduce litter and waste, and protect and enhance the places we care for. We aim to change behaviour to improve our environment, the quality of people’s lives, their wellbeing, and the places that they care for.

We support the ambitions of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

What the role is

Upstream Battle ® is our award winning campaign that focuses on changing littering behaviour to prevent marine litter at source along two rivers, the River Clyde and River Tay. This role will develop and implement the education programmes as part of the Clyde campaign which includes a professional learning programme which supports teachers to use source to sea litter as a context to nurture STEM skills. Other strands include a primary school art competition, an engineering challenge and a media skills challenge.

You will work within our Education and Learning Team and work closely with our Campaigns Team to support the wider campaign. This post will also provide support to learning establishments to engage with other Education and Learning team projects and where appropriate wider Keep Scotland Beautiful projects.

What you’ll need to have

We are looking for someone with the knowledge and experience of delivering professional learning programmes for educators on climate change and environment subjects through innovative or enhanced practice. You will have an understanding of education policy and practice (including Curriculum for Excellence and Learning for Sustainability) and experience of working with schools and local authority education or children services.

In addition, we are looking for you to have experience of developing networks and positive working relationships and demonstrable experience of managing and developing sustainable development education initiatives. A proven track record of managing complex projects is essential for this post as is the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences, especially for training and learning purposes.

The post holder will require to have a full, valid UK driving licence and this post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure Scotland (PVG) check.
