Role

Changeworks is offering an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to help accelerate the decarbonisation of Scottish Homes. Candidates will have a high level of knowledge and understanding of building energy efficiency retrofit, underpinned by a professional qualification or academic track record and a demonstrable track record of project management. The successful candidate will see their expertise reflected in the design and delivery of real world retrofit projects across a range of archetypes and tenures.

This post is advertised at Senior Consultant level. Changeworks would also encourage applications from candidates who may lack some experience but meet the majority of the criteria and evidence an aptitude for the role. Appointments in that context could be made at Consultant level.

Based within our busy and growing Consultancy Team, the role requires effective working with a diversity of Changeworks projects and external clients from across sectors. Our Consultancy team works across the sustainability agenda and has a particular specialism related to energy efficiency, heat decarbonisation and renewables in the built environment, fuel poverty and pro-environmental behaviour change.

The successful candidate will be able to draw on a range of experience that will convince us that you can take a lead and continue our development and growth pathway in this area. You will have a commitment and passion for this field, be organised and proactive, as well as having a creative streak that will allow you to identify innovative solutions, work round problems, identify new areas of work and promote and disseminate our work. The ability to effectively manage staff, deal with multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a supportive team environment is essential.

The Climate Emergency has resulted in ambitious national targets to reduce carbon emissions from the built environment and reduce rates of fuel poverty. This has driven a significant increase in the number of pilot and large-scale interventions delivered by Changeworks and external organisations in this area. These include area-based domestic energy efficiency retrofit and decarbonisation projects and programmes. You will be part of an organisation that sees success as delivering interventions that have both positive outcomes for people and their wellbeing as well as building fabric. You will also be joining Changeworks at a time when we will be implementing our new three- year Strategy focused on this agenda.

Benefits

We offer a wide range of staff benefits including flexible working, bike to work scheme, an excellent pension scheme and 26 days paid holiday plus 9 public holidays per year.

At Changeworks we remain working at home, where possible, in line with Scottish Government advice. This post would have typically been office based however we are currently designing our new ways of working. Over the coming months we will be looking to offer increased flexibility about where we work, in a hybrid of home and office base depending on the needs of each role.
