About Us

Mearns and Coastal Healthy Living Network is a local charity which has been providing activities, services and support to maintain and improve the health and well-being of older people for 20 years. Based in Laurencekirk, the organisation delivers a range of community-based services across Kincardine and Mearns which support older people to live well in their communities. We also deliver a range of groups and activities to combat social isolation and loneliness and to maintain and improve physical health and mental wellbeing. We want our services and activities to be inclusive and are continuing to develop and expand our support for people living with dementia. We aim to support people to remain involved in their local communities for as long as possible and to contribute to the well-being of those communities. Our services and activities are all delivered with help from the Network’s team of fantastic volunteers, the majority of whom are older people themselves, and who are a vital part of the organisation.

About the Role

As Project Coordinator you will be an experienced and motivated individual, joining a small, friendly staff team who are committed to making a difference to the lives of older people, including those living with dementia.

You will be experienced in organising, facilitating and leading a variety of community-based groups, providing meaningful opportunities for older people to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing.

A self-confessed “people person”, you will be able to engage and consult with a range of stakeholders to identify new opportunities for service growth, and be able to listen, encourage and motivate people to be involved in their local communities.

Ideally you will have experience of supporting and managing volunteers, including identifying volunteering opportunities, and be able to assist with the recruitment, induction and ongoing support of our fantastic team of volunteers.

Working closely with the Manager, staff team and Board of Trustees, you will support the day to day running of the organisation. This may include compiling reports and taking part in evaluation processes to monitor the effectiveness of our services and activities, as well as identifying funding streams, development opportunities and partnerships to expand and promote the aims and services of the organisation.

This post involves regulated work, and the preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to confirmation of employment.

What Will You Do?

  • Work with group members, volunteers and partner agencies to support and develop existing activities, including social gardening groups, health walks and a group for people living with dementia. To actively participate in these activities as required.
  • Organise, coordinate and facilitate regular groups and activities. Working with group members, volunteers, Support Worker and Administrative Assistant to plan activities, arrange transport, organise volunteer rotas and book venues.
  • Lead on planned outings, providing support and assistance to group members and volunteers. Complete risk assessments and ensure activities comply with current Health and Safety protocols.
  • Provide support and supervision to volunteers. Assist in the recruitment, induction and training process of volunteers, including PVGs, and identify new volunteering opportunities.
  • Support the development of our recruitment, training and support structure for volunteers, and assist in the attainment of the Volunteer Friendly Award.
  • Identify projects, development opportunities and potential partnerships to expand and promote the activities and aims of the organisation.
  • Engage and consult with clients, group members, volunteers and other stakeholders to develop and expand our range of services, support and groups, in response to identified need.
  • Assist in the identification of funding streams, support the Manager and Funding Committee with applications and support the development of systems to gather evidence for evaluations and monitoring.
  • Compile regular reports as needed, and attend Board, office, volunteer and multiagency meetings as required.
  • Comply with all organisational policies and procedures.
  • Support and cover for the Manager and all other staff as required, and take on other reasonable activities and responsibilities as instructed by the Manager and Board.
