At Volunteering Matters, we use the unique power of volunteering to bring people together, build stronger, more resilient communities across the UK and solve some of society’s most complex issues. From social isolation and loneliness, to improving health and wellbeing, to building skills, confidence and opportunity, and to ensuring young people can become change-makers in their community; the impact that we have is great. And we won’t stop until everyone in the UK has the opportunity to thrive.

People-led and impact driven, we are a national charity that is deeply embedded in local areas across the UK. We operate in regional hubs across Scotland, England and Wales. We also have a national Employee Volunteering Team, with over 25 years’ experience, acting as a broker of tailor-made solutions to employers. We turn local knowledge and energy into action and progress, building stronger communities and a better future for all.

Role Overview

We are a worthwhile, fun, interesting, challenging, team orientated, collaborative and rewarding place to work! Due to expansion, we are currently recruiting for a talented, dynamic and professional Project Manager in our Edinburgh, Lothians and Forth Valley team. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrate an understanding and total commitment to our organisational values.

As our Project Manager, you will lead a small team of staff, playing a key role overseeing, managing, delivering, and developing our volunteering programmes in local communities across Edinburgh and Forth Valley. As a senior member of the team, you will role model our organisational values and demonstrate excellent leadership skills. You will develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, funders, partners and others.

You will support and empower colleagues operating youth social action and mentoring programmes across the region. This includes Volunteering Matters Equip Mentoring and Peer Perspectives programmes in Alloa, as well as ProjectScotland’s 2 youth social action programmes in Edinburgh operated in partnership with 2 local secondary schools.

We are a values-driven organisation, and are looking for someone who is compassionate, empowering, straightforward, inclusive and positive. The post-holder may also contribute to the wider work of Volunteering Matters, such as working groups around Safeguarding, Equality Diversity and Inclusion and others.

The post can be home based (must be close to Edinburgh or Alloa) or office based within our Edinburgh or Alloa premises. The postholder will require good internet access to enable remote working, and a suitable home office space. I.T. equipment and infrastructure will be supplied.

Post Covid-19 there will be an expectation to travel across the region in the role. This includes travel across Edinburgh, Lothians and Forth Valley.
