Role

Aberdeen Science Centre has a very enviable reputation working with schools, community groups and aspires to be a 5-star Visit Scotland visitor attraction. With the recent opening of our £6m newly redeveloped building, now is the most exciting time in our 30+ year history to join our exceptional team and help us work towards ‘inspiring a lifelong interest in science’ in everything we do.

We are seeking a successful, pro-active Fundraising Manager to lead on developing Aberdeen Science Centre’s grant funding, trusts, sponsorship and fundraising activities, maximising current relationships and cultivating new funding opportunities to support projects across our charity. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and passionate team, strategically managing and growing the Science Centre’s programmes, activities and projects for the future.

The Fundraising Manager will also work closely with the Head of Business Development to maximise existing relationships, especially with corporate users of the science centre to develop fundraising opportunities. They will also lead on the development of a ‘Friends of Aberdeen Science Centre’ group to support our fundraising.

Whilst identifying, writing and submitting applications will be an essential part of the role, it is important that this role is not seen as ASC’s sole fundraiser but will also support and facilitate others across the organisation in achieving their funding and fundraising targets.

You will be educated to a degree level (or have equivalent demonstrable experience in the sector), have a record of successfully applying for grants and other funding income and will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A good knowledge of IT software and an interest in Science and other STEM subjects would be advantageous whilst the ability to use social media platforms as an effective business tool would be worthwhile.
