Role

Do you feel passionate about improving the life chances of children, young people and families? Are you excited to collaborate with a range of diverse partners to practically apply social research and data science skills?

Dartington Service Design Lab is an internationally respected social research and design charity focussed on using evidence and design in innovative ways to help those working with children and young people have a greater impact.

As an organisation, we have more than 50 years of experience working across the public and voluntary sectors.

We are growing our staff team and are looking for a post-doctoral Senior Researcher. This role is for an experienced social researcher looking to work in a fast-paced, innovative and applied research environment. The role includes developing ideas and proposals, shaping research methods, managing multiple projects and small teams to deliver, forming and maintaining positive relationships with clients and strategic partners, and effectively disseminating outputs and learning from projects to wide and diverse audiences.

We are especially looking for someone who can bring strong quantitative, data science and analytical skills and experience, to complement the wide range of skills and experiences in the team.

The successful candidate may be based anywhere in Great Britain and will enjoy a varied and independent role – working with great colleagues and partners on multiple projects.

The work is rarely routine. We are often experimenting and trying to innovate with those who we work with. We value empathy and collaboration and a focus on using evidence for social good.

We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher who can quickly add value and integrate into our team, with at least 5 years’ experience of outstanding project lead and delivery within the research or social sector.

We strive for diversity in our team. If we’re going to design impactful services for children and families, we need to ensure our team is inclusive. Dartington encourages applications from all backgrounds and are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities.

Over the last five years we have operated remotely across the UK with regular project-related travel when it is safe to do so. Our staff tend to work from home or when appropriate, together in local co-working spaces, and normally, every quarter we meet as a whole team in our beautiful Devon office.

The post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
