Role

Back on Track- is a partnership between Home Link Family Support (HLFS), CrossReach and Goodtree’s Neighbourhood Centre, with additional referral support from the locality Parent and Carer Development Officer. Our mission is to enable holistic, multi-disciplinary interventions on a longer-term basis for children, young people and their families.

Back on Track has been successful in being awarded funding for 3 years (possible extension to 5) from the City Of Edinburgh Community Mental Health Framework

Back on Track aim’s to achieve the following:

  • A dedicated service available and housed in the local community with prominent presence and visibility
  • A single seamless pathway for support for families and children and young people
  • Improved sharing of insight on the needs relating to 5-24-year-olds (or 26 if care experienced) and their families in the community
  • Providing a central point of contact
  • Building resilient communities to effectively support young people’s mental health.

The impact of the Covid 19 pandemic has had a significant effect upon children, young people and their parent/carers, we have seen an increase in requests for support from children, young people and their families who are experiencing distress. We are seeking to recruit a Systemic Family Counsellor to join with Counsellors from Crossreach to form a therapy team, based in the heart of the community. This service will dove tail with the existing local service provision and operate in the school catchments of Gracemount and Liberton High School’s.

You will be an experienced therapist who has the knowledge and understanding of how to offer effective support to parents, children and young people related to their mental health and wellbeing needs. The posts are based at Goodtrees Community Centre, but you will be required to offer therapy across the locality and when appropriate in family homes and schools. Having access to a car for business use is essential.

The post is funded for 3 years.
