About the role

An exciting opportunity to influence real behaviour change across organisations in Scotland, as a Workplace Engagement Project Officer, has arisen. Our vision and mission have never been more relevant. Across the UK, governments are pledging investment and action on walking and cycling, now is the time to apply.

As the project officer for workplace engagement, you will report into the Delivery Co-ordinator, Workplaces in the Sustrans Scotland Behaviour Change team, working closely with other project officers across the region.

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key partners across a broad range of sectors such as: industry, public sector, councils and Higher Education establishments; affecting behavior change within them and help to build their sustainability plans.

In this role, you will deliver on a number of officer led activities ranging from information stalls, training sessions, led walks and rides, workplace challenges, volunteer recruitment (Active Travel Champions), webinars, team meetings and inductions.

Sustrans is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion. We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups.

We are very happy to discuss working hours to suit individual circumstances. This role is particularly suitable for compressed hours, and will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within the Central Belt area with travel expected to a nominated hub/office base in Edinburgh.

About you

You will build relationships with ease, with the ability to communicate both clearly and persuasively at all levels, including executive levels.

Clear evidence of your experience in project planning and delivery, of either physical activity or behaviour change projects, is essential. You must also be able to describe successful marketing events, campaigns, including the variety of media used and any research methods, you have lead on and used.

Engaging and motivating our partners is a key element of the role. To do this effectively, you must be aware of local and national policies that relate to active and sustainable travel policies. You will pass on relevant information to lead workplace contacts, to influence their internal policies and practices, supporting them to build active travel as a mode of transport into their organisations.

You must be a proficient user of MS Office applications, able to create engaging presentations, and be competent in multimedia and creativity software, such as Adobe and Mailchimp.
