Hospital Youth Work team - Assistant Project Worker

Role

We are looking to recruit an exciting new post for our Children and Family support service.

As Assistant Project Worker, you will support the Children’s Wellbeing Officer to identify and support the non-clinical needs of a wide range of children and young people in the hospital, and provide a range of focussed activities, in an age appropriate, engaging facility. You will work with teams in the hospital to develop complementary programmes which support children and young people to engage with treatment and feel less anxious or stressed. You should be experienced in supporting young people to feel empowered and able to support families and carers, of children and young people in the hospital, through a meaningful programme of engagement and activities. You will have a good knowledge of other agencies and organisations to signpost children, young people and their families to places of support and advice. The activities of the Hospital Youth Work team will also link with the ECHC Arts Programme and hospital’s needs.

You will be educated to HNC level in youth work or community education and will have experience of working with children, young people and families; of delivering project outputs and achieving outcomes; and of engaging young people through positive relationships.

Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity operates from premises at 1st Floor, 1 Wester Shawfair, Danderhall, Dalkeith EH22 1FD, however this post will be based at The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Little France, Edinburgh.

All staff have access to an employer pension scheme and are entitled to 30 days’ holiday including public holiday’s (pro-rata), the option of flexible working hours, a system of TOIL and mileage allowance. The starting salary for this post is £18,766.
