Extended - an opportunity for a Kurdish Sorani language man

CIS CVAW Male Project Worker Post – Kurdish, Sorani language (currently funded by Scottish Government, Delivering Equally Safe grant) Length of post: 2 years, then subject to further funding

Salary: £9,200 a year (pro rata of £23,000 a year) Hours of work: 14 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, with time off in lieu for occasional evening or weekend working

Place of work: CIS office, Albany Centre, 44 Ashley Street, G3 6DS and from home by arrangement and as Scottish Government guidelines

Responsible to: Challenging Violence Against Women Project Manager

The aim of this post is to provide information on Challenging Violence Against Women in general and particularly on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Honour Based Violence (HBV) to men of Kurdish descent and other relevant communities, to:

• Raise awareness in BME communities of human rights and responsibilities

• Raise awareness among men about Violence Against Women in general and on FGM and its consequences in particular

• Motivate men to participate in combating FGM, GBV and HBV among their families and communities,

• Reduce FGM, GBV and HBV’s prevalence and practise

Community InfoSource has secured funding from Scottish Government’s Delivering Equally Safe grant for our Challenging Violence Against Women Project for a Kurdish Sorani language speaker, for a 14 hours a week post until September 2023. This is in partnership with Saheliya. Please note, there will be spoken and written Sorani language test as part of the interview Community InfoSource has been working, since 2006, with marginalised people to overcome the barriers they face to integration, and supporting them to put their own ideas into action. Six of our eight directors came here as refugees and the others have worked in this field.
