The Conservation Volunteers – The Community Volunteering Charity

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

About the role:

The TCV Building Roots Ayrshire project is an exciting partnership project between TCV Scotland and three local authority departments in North, East and South Ayrshire, that are working on resettlement, integration, community learning and development, and ESOL. TCV have a track record of bringing refugee families together, visiting special local places where they meet new people and support local connections, and this has a profoundly positive impact on their lives. This project aims to improve families and individual’s experience of daily and social life, to grow confidence to visit greenspaces and to join into activities to learn about and engage in natural and cultural heritage activities. Those activities are best explored and learned about as a group to encourage building social connections, and improve the participants well-being and feeling of belonging.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee the general running and organisation of the project (including communication with all partners and participants, facilitation and logistics of sessions/activities, monitoring and evaluation of activities and feedback from participants)

This role will be key in supporting participants to practice English in TCV organised activities and this will be backed up with ESOL language classes and other activities organised by the Councils. The project will offer valuable learning opportunities in a supportive group environment while benefiting from engagement with local green spaces.

Other requirements of the role include:

  • Health and safety management, including producing risk assessments
  • Managing and supporting Volunteer Officers and trainees
  • Managing TCV local resources, including the office and tools
  • Assisting with managing the project budget and produce written reports when required
  • Using online and offline materials to promote TCV’s work to new partners and individuals

* A full driving licence is required for this role.

A bit more about us:

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For over 60 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone.
