Role
To develop further our dignified approach to food insecurity working with young people and the community to:
- Grow our food and cooking programmes locally.
- Generate interest in and progress our community allotment space.
To do this you will take an approach that is universal, human and dignified.
Crossroads Youth and Community Association’s work and values are built on the central belief that “everyone had the right to live gloriously: whatever in society prevents this, should be challenged and whatever in the individual helps should be nurtured”
This role will involve working across the community with young people, families and the wider community.

We’re looking for an administrative support officer to join us and support our senior leadership team and board of trustees. We’re looking for someone with the ability to provide administrative support at an executive level, with an understanding of charity governance and working with boards. The role will include a variety of duties including organising and coordinating meetings and travel, preparing accurate minutes and other written correspondence, playing a key role in organising our board of trustees, committees, senior leadership team, staff conferences and monthly all-staff meetings.
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), we will fully consider part-time hours and job shares. This role can be worked from home with some in-person, in-office meetings (on average once a week). You will be expected to join board and committee meetings in person, these normally take place in our Edinburgh city centre office four times a year.
*Location: This post can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow. SCVO staff can work a blend of office and home on agreement with their line manager, and within the parameters of our Blended Working policy. This role will involve some in person, office working (on average once a week).

Established over 80 years ago, Youth 1st is the leading support agency for youth organisations, youth groups, youth workers, volunteers and young people in Fife.
Youth 1st provides services which increase the effectiveness and capacity of our members who engage with young people in the youth work sector in Fife. We support and empower youth workers, volunteers and organisations, leading to strong and resilient community-based youth work, which in turn will improve the life experiences and opportunities of young people.
We have an established membership consisting of a number of youth clubs, groups and organisations from throughout Fife. Most of our member groups are organised and run by volunteers.
Our highly experienced staff team offer support, advice, access to training and events to all our members across Fife. We are a valued Youth Work partner in both the Local and National Voluntary Youth Work Sectors and work closely with our partners in Fife Council, NHS Fife, Fife Voluntary Action and other agencies across Fife.
About B:activ
The B:activ project has two main themes, Health Promotion and Young Volunteer development. For us, health promotion is about getting young people more physically active as well as working on exciting projects with organisations such as NHS Fife, Fife Council and Fife Voluntary Action. Delivery of physical activity and games sessions forms a key part of our project and is a great opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people.
The other element of B:activ is young volunteer development and is about getting young people more involved in their local community. Whether this is helping out at their local youth club, volunteering at the food bank or building employability skills to help them get a job. This strand of the project involves delivery of fun and engaging sessions such as leadership awards and skills building sessions. It’s great to see young people develop during a leadership course and eventually feel confident enough to stand up in front of their peers and deliver a game.
You will be responsible for delivering key parts of the B:activ project and supporting Youth 1st member groups. Using a youth work approach, you will help young people build their confidence and encourage them to be more active in their communities.
This role is perfect for you if you are active, energetic and enthusiastic. You will love working with young people and enjoy building relationships with a wide range of people across Fife. You will be expected to co-ordinate and deliver face to face youth work sessions using a range of youth work tools. If you have knowledge of Sports/Physical Activity, Health Promotion, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Youth Awards, this would be a bonus.

We are looking for an inspiring media and content manager to join our UK communications team. This role is responsible for supporting the development of Mary’s Meals’ media relationships throughout the UK, delivering high quality media coverage and content which is consistently aligned to Mary’s Meals’ strategy for growth in the UK.
As a key member of the communications team, the media and content manager also contributes significantly to the overall development and delivery of the marketing and communications strategy.
Key duties:
- Work with the head of media and content to implement the media and content strategy and contribute to wider strategy.
- Develop and implement campaigns in the UK in close collaboration with the global communications team.
- Manage and develop a proactive media relations programme to create well targeted opportunities to raise awareness of Mary’s Meals across all media.
- Oversee the production of news releases and media statements in conjunction with other members of the communications team.
- Arrange media interviews (including briefings and training) for key UK staff to promote the work of Mary’s Meals.
- Identify and support media partnership or appeal opportunities and manage relationships with partners, celebrities and other external stakeholders.
- Work flexibly and respond effectively to media enquiries or unplanned situations.
- Monitor media coverage and the news agenda and use this insight to recommend ways to improve the overall effectiveness of our media engagement.
- Manage the production of compelling storytelling content for use across all channels, including website, email marketing, direct mail and publications.
- Support the production of multi-channel communications and fundraising materials which reinforce Mary’s Meals values, brand and key messages for use by supporters in the UK.
- Lead our internal communications with staff, trustees and volunteers – ensuring content is timely and engaging.
