We have recently partnered with Scottish Families Affected by Drugs and Alcohol as an ‘early adopter’ site across East Lothian to deliver the Grow Your Own Routes programme. This programme will support young people affected by family substance use.

Funded by Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund for three years, Grow Your Own Routes aims to ensure that young people affected by substance use are visible, have a voice and are empowered to effect change.

The team aims to reduce harm and the impact of substance use on young people by offering strengths-based and co-produced one-to-one, peer, advocacy and group work in youth and community settings.

Funded until 31 March 2026

About the role

This role is funded by The Robertson Trust to deliver an ambitious two year project to inspire and build support around policy solutions to meet Scotland's 2030 Child Poverty Targets. As Public Attitudes Campaigns Manager, you will lead on all aspects of the project:

• overseeing research into public attitudes and developing a narrative framework
• working with lived a lived experience panel an advisory board
• engaging an active network of champions to use the findings from this work
• actively engaging and training stakeholders in using the findings
• building relationships and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting role that involves a variety of skills and the chance to have a real impact on children's lives.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee the commissioning of partners and working with them to deliver public attitudes research and developing and testing frames and narratives.
• Actively engage a network of champions from within the anti-poverty sector.
• Manage the project, which includes creating, delivering, driving and monitoring progress of the project plan and communicating progress to key stakeholder groups.
• Champion and manage stakeholder engagement and communication, including an Advisory Group
• Draft compelling and accessible reports and materials summarising key messages and findings
• Build and maintain knowledge on the political and policy landscape on child poverty in Scotland and public affairs developments and engagement opportunities to maximise the impact of this work.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Understanding or experience of working on projects or campaigns to change public attitudes e.g. researching public attitudes, developing narratives etc.
• Experience of project management and working with multiple partners to deliver on complex projects with multiple stages and timelines.
• Significant experience of leading the development of strong stakeholder relations and delivering impactful engagement and influencing activities, ideally with experience of developing a community of practice.
• Demonstratable experience of building established networks and relationships with senior stakeholders in the anti-poverty movement (or demonstratable skills in relevant field) in Scotland. Knowledge of working with civil society to deliver change and ability to effectively manage and work within networks and coalitions.
• Experience of commissioning research/consultants to deliver public attitudes/policy research
• Excellent communication skills, and experience building rapport and communicating effectively with a wide range of people at all levels and situations (on the phone, face to face and in writing)
• Ability to deliver projects to high standards with minimum support and adapt easily to change.

1. Play Midlothian’s services achieve planned outputs and outcomes and Play Midlothian can robustly evidence this is the case. Accountable for quality of services, and quality assessment and improvement. Accountable for ensuring effective impact measurement is in place, and for writing strong evaluation reports, to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements. Links operational decisions to approved strategy.

2. Play Midlothian’s services are safe and nurturing. Fulfils the roles of safeguarding officer and health and safety officer and is accountable for all operational risk management. Recognises that children can benefit from risky play and ensures this is appropriately managed.

3. Play Midlothian’s services have the resources they need and are cost-effective for what they achieve. Leads on operational recruitment. Accountable for service budget management and for supplying service budgets for fundraising targets. Leads on ensuring quality is coupled with value for money, and improves sustainability.

4. Play Midlothian’s services are well-attended and well-designed to meet the needs of service users. Accountable for local service marketing and referrals and pathways for service users. Accountable for correct handling of complaints. Leads on ensuring the voices of service users, particularly children, are central to our objectives.

5. New services are created to meet different needs. Incubates pilot projects and is accountable for learning and development processes to lead to effective rollout. Proposes new services, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on need and design, and leads on community consultations. Links service development to strategic plans.

6. The operational team has the support and tools they need to deliver great services. Accountable for ensuring the team understands policies and procedures.

Accountable for SOPs (other than finance, data protection and fundraising) and overarching systems to support delivery. Leads on grievances and disciplinaries for operational staff. Enables learning and innovation in the team. Provides exemplary support, both formally and informally.

We work with local partners and families to come together to prevent abuse and tackle the problems that cause it, head-on. Join the Together for Childhood team in Glasgow as a Research & Evaluation Officer and lead the development and implementation of our local evaluation and learning work.

This role will manage a Research and Evaluation Assistant, and together the Glasgow Together for Childhood evaluation team will lead on developing new and interesting opportunities to understand and assess how the initiative is working for children and families in their local communities.

Together for Childhood is a place-based initiative which aims to radically improve the way we tackle child abuse and neglect through systems change. Together for Childhood sites are places of continuous learning and the NSPCC conducts research and evaluation to provide insight into what works and what makes a difference.

We're looking for an experienced researcher to lead on the design and implementation of local evaluation projects, as well as supporting the central evaluation of Together for Childhood. Specifically we're looking for:

• A strong background in qualitative and quantitative methodologies and their application in community settings, including children and young people
• A commitment to collaborative, inclusive and participatory practice
• Strong skills in building respectful and productive relationships with children, families and their community
• The ability to share findings to varied audiences, but particularly with the community TfC works in

The post is full-time and permanent but part-time/flexible working will be considered. Your base is the Govan Service Centre but it will be possible to work from home for part of the week. Some travel to other NSPCC locations, including London, will be necessary.
