We a seeking a people focussed all-trades maintenance assistant to support our Lead Maintenance Engineer in
maintaining our building and outdoor spaces at our Rachel House Hospice set in beautiful grounds in Kinross,
Perthshire & Kinross.
We have purpose designed health care buildings, play areas, areas for peaceful reflection, woodland trails and
interactive spaces for children and families to enjoy the therapeutic nature of the outdoor spaces that we have
to offer.
Key Responsibilities
Whilst maintaining the indoor environments in perfect order i.e. sensory rooms, therapy pools, bedrooms and kitchens,
our maintenance assistant will enjoy working alongside and supporting colleagues such as gardeners and
volunteers who tend to our outdoor spaces.
Given the nature of our healthcare environment the work will be varied and interesting with no two days the same
however, duties will mostly consist of:
• All trades maintenance and contractor escorting duties
• Equipment/machinery maintenance
• Statutory maintenance checks e.g. therapy pool sampling and testing
• Outdoor space maintenance
About You
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience in supporting a variety of work repairs and tasks within a buildings operations/maintenance and outdoors
spaces environment.
• The ability to work on your own initiative and have good communication skills.
• A flexible approach to working including occasional out of hours working and participation in out of hours
emergency stand-by service
• Demonstrate experience and a genuine willingness to work alongside/supervise colleagues and volunteers to deliver
great Estates & Facilities services for children and families.
• Knowledge of working within a healthcare environment is desirable. You may also undertake associated works across
in other trade skills by multi skilling.
• Modern Apprenticeship qualification, in a relevant discipline, at SVQ Level 3 or above, or equivalent
experience
• IOSH Working Safely in the Workplace
About CHAS

at some point work with or alongside volunteers and will be expected to support volunteers.
