We are looking for a Community Activities Organiser for the Fife area. You will establish a range of community activities and opportunities across the locality that fill identified gaps and meet the needs of people living with dementia and their families.

The successful applicant will have a positive approach to dementia. You will be flexible, inclusive, creative, and organised in your approach. You will be sensitive and compassionate with the ability to support people in times of difficulty or distress. You will be an excellent communicator who can work effectively both with individuals and with groups. You will have a positive approach to your own continued professional development and a willingness to participate in relevant training. A relevant qualification and previous experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.

About Us

Established over 80 years ago, Youth 1st is the leading support agency for youth organisations, youth groups, youth workers, volunteers and young people in Fife.

Youth 1st provides services which increase the effectiveness and capacity of our members who engage with young people in the youth work sector in Fife. We support and empower youth workers, volunteers and organisations, leading to strong and resilient community-based youth work, which in turn will improve the life experiences and opportunities of young people.

We have an established membership consisting of a number of youth clubs, groups and organisations from throughout Fife. Most of our member groups are organised and run by volunteers.

Our highly experienced staff team offer support, advice, access to training and events to all our members across Fife. We are a valued Youth Work partner in both the Local and National Voluntary Youth Work Sectors and work closely with our partners in Fife Council, NHS Fife, Fife Voluntary Action and other agencies across Fife.

About B:activ

The B:activ project has two main themes, Health Promotion and Young Volunteer development. For us, health promotion is about getting young people more physically active as well as working on exciting projects with organisations such as NHS Fife, Fife Council and Fife Voluntary Action. Delivery of physical activity and games sessions forms a key part of our project and is a great opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people.

The other element of B:activ is young volunteer development and is about getting young people more involved in their local community. Whether this is helping out at their local youth club, volunteering at the food bank or building employability skills to help them get a job. This strand of the project involves delivery of fun and engaging sessions such as leadership awards and skills building sessions. It’s great to see young people develop during a leadership course and eventually feel confident enough to stand up in front of their peers and deliver a game.

You will be responsible for delivering key parts of the B:activ project and supporting Youth 1st member groups. Using a youth work approach, you will help young people build their confidence and encourage them to be more active in their communities.

This role is perfect for you if you are active, energetic and enthusiastic. You will love working with young people and enjoy building relationships with a wide range of people across Fife. You will be expected to co-ordinate and deliver face to face youth work sessions using a range of youth work tools. If you have knowledge of Sports/Physical Activity, Health Promotion, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Youth Awards, this would be a bonus.

The Scottish Recovery Consortium is passionate about building recovery from addiction in Scotland. Our response to the new strategy landscape is Support, Represent, Connect. Scotland has a rich history of people with lived experience using their experiences to improve services and structures for people still accessing support. Over the past few years, the emergence of Lived Experience Panels has created a unique opportunity to further embed our voices within the system. This post will support the development and growth of a Lived Experience Panel in Fife.

What the post involves:

• Work with people with lived experience, SRC, Fife ADP, treatment providers and local services to support the creation, development and integration of a Lived Experience Panel across Fife ADP.

• To support and coordinate the ongoing activities, development, and integration of Fife’s Lived Experience Panel.

• To support, coordinate, and train people with lived experience to develop an understanding of treatment and support systems. Utilise this learning and knowledge to cascade information more broadly across communities to increase the number of people in recovery who share their experience and contribute to local decision making about treatment and support.

• To support and offer peer mentor support to new and existing Lived Experience Panel members from across Fife to reflect on learning and experience of being a lived experience panel member.

• To link the work of the Lived Experience Panel and Fife ADP.

• To develop a links and relationships with all services that support people with addiction issues.

Our ideal candidate will have this experience and knowledge:

• Knowledge and experience of the recovery movement and people in recovery in in Fife and across Scotland.

• Knowledge and experience of addiction treatment services and system in Fife and Scotland.

• Experience in collaborating and jointly working with a range of key ADP stakeholders, key local providers and services and recovery communities in Fife.

• Evidence of high level on going personal development through formal or informal education, training or self-directed learning.

• Knowledge of how stigma affects people with addiction issues, why that happens and how can it be challenged and resolved.

• Knowledge of a rights-based approach and experience of having applied it in action.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate these abilities and skills:

• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.

• Listening and observation skills that will be utilised across a range of different diverse groups, services and people in recovery and leaders across Fife ADP.

Deafblind Scotland is the specialist charity working with adults living with dual sensory loss. Our ambitions are high for members and we are therefore at the forefront of finding ways to support people to lead their most meaningful life.

Deafblindness can be a devastating condition that can make daily life extremely challenging and as a result, many people with dual sensory loss become isolated. Our services can make a vital difference to their lives; enabling people to regain confidence, gain vital communication skills and re-establish social connections. Some people may acquire the loss of both senses where others may be born Deaf or with sight loss and lose the other sense as they move through adult life caused by conditions such as Ushers Syndrome or age related conditions such as Glaucoma.

We are seeking to recruit a Project Co-ordinator to work across several programme areas, supporting the Programme Leads to create and implement innovative approaches to improving the lives of people living with Deafblindness. This role involves working alongside deafblind people to facilitate their engagement, promoting a culture of empowerment and peer leadership. Working as part of a dynamic team, you will liaise with a range of stakeholders, delivering evidence-based monitoring and evaluation reports and co-producing and facilitating training events.
