Tamfourhill Tenants and Residents Organisation (SCIO) are a long- established local organisation who have embedded strong relationships, connections and reliability throughout the local area. The Tamfourhill Tenants and Residents Organisation is widely recognised as a provider of quality and relevant community services and activities which are focussed upon tackling poverty and isolation, building community cohesion and supporting significant community development projects like: the Roman Play Park, the Tamfourhill Food pantry, operating weekly Youth provisions, the Our Place Camelon and Tamfourhill Project and an outdoor learning and environmental project based within local woodland.

The new Safer Streets Youth Action Project is closely aligned to the local Community Safety Strategy: Camelon & Tamfourhill will be a safer, happier and more attractive place to live which was developed through the Our Place Camelon and Tamfourhill Project which is also managed by the Tamfourhill tenants and residents Organisation. (TTRO)

The TTRO now require a suitability experienced and trained Youth Outreach Worker to support the work of this new Youth Project and its development throughout Camelon and Tamfourhill. The Post is initially for 3 years and is funded through the Falkirk Community School Fund and the TTRO have also been successful in securing a further package of match funding for this period. The Youth Outreach worker will work closely with the Youth Development Worker and will be excepted to support the Twilight Sports programme which is delivered throughout Camelon and Tamfourhill on Friday nights, take part in a programme of streetwork and engagement with young people in public spaces, support the delivery of activity programmes and accredited groupwork and encourage young people to have a voice and contribute to local community development projects, including aspects of the community safety strategy and Community Climate Action Plan, and also support the weekly youth provisions that operate from the Tamfourhill Community Hub. Partnership working will be essential to this Post and the delivery of local youth work should maximise existing services, facilities and opportunities and encourage young people to make greater and a more positive use of local outdoor resources like public parks, the canal network and other open green spaces.

The Development Post is funded initially for three years through the National Lottery Young Start Fund and will be focussed upon developing new youth work opportunities for young people 8 - 24 years old from Camelon and Tamfourhill. The TTRO has also been successful in securing a further package of match funding covering the next 3 years and the Youth Development Worker will be expected to coordinate and deliver the Safer Streets Youth Project, including: supporting the Part time Youth Outreach Worker and other sessional staff and volunteers, developing and supporting the twilight Sports Programme which is delivered throughout Camelon and Tamfourhill on Friday nights, deliver an outreach programme of youth activities and accredited groupwork, coordinate and undertake a programme of streetwork engagement with young people, support young people’s involvement with relevant community development projects and key aspects of the Community Safety Strategy and the Community Climate Action Plan and also support and develop new opportunities for young people currently attending the weekly youth provisions based at the Tamfourhill Community Hub. Partnership working will be essential to this Youth Project and the delivery of local youth work should maximise existing services, facilities and opportunities and encourage young people to make greater and more positive use of local outdoor resources like public parks, the canal network and other open green spaces.

Community Links is looking for an enthusiastic community-minded individual to support our Community Development team, deliver local Neighbourhood Plans and expand our established Local Area Networks by strengthening relationships with community groups, third sector organisations, and public services. We are seeking an individual who is empathetic, understanding, and who is passionate about improving opportunities and life chances in the communities we serve.

The role will also contribute to the overall strategic plan of Community Links, helping to: bring about social change; promote positive health and wellbeing; support actions which contribute to net zero targets; and improve the quality of life in our local communities.

About the role:

The Community Development Worker post offers a unique opportunity for someone who is committed to creatively utilising and developing their knowledge and skills in engaging with communities, providing services and acting as a connector for local people to access additional services they may need, and getting more involved in their community.

There will be a focus on: raising awareness and involving communities in the development of our projects and community relationships; cultivating strong relationships with Local Area Networks, local communities, and third sector / public service partner organisations; developing resources and materials; and teamwork; and continuing our existing online presence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and develop already-established community hubs; continue and develop existing partner relationships; prioritise, plan and implement community-led action for community capacity building and net zero
• Work with people at all levels, local community volunteer groups, to ensure plans are aligned and integrated with the project priorities
• Work with other team members to promote activities and opportunities to our wider communities
• Cascade training to local people to create a network of Community Climate Change Champions
• Support and assist with planning and monitoring the projects - namely local neighbourhood plans - whilst collecting evidence, stories and testimonies
• Create content for promotion on social media and target advertising
• Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and development and participate in any training opportunities

• Have relevant qualification or experience in Community Development processes.

• Be proficient in Microsoft packages, including Teams

• Have excellent communication skills, be a good listener, and work well with people at all levels with a positive approach to problem-solving and project development
• Have a full driving license, with reasonable access to a car

• Carrying out inclusive evaluations for projects, organisations and community groups that tell people’s stories and show the difference they make to people and communities.
