We are looking for someone to lead the creation and sharing of high quality and influential knowledge and learning about our grant making here in in Scotland.
Managing a small team, you will ensure that we are deepening our understanding of the reach and impact of National Lottery funding invested across Scotland’s communities as well as connecting to the wider strategic landscape, understanding the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead, and engaging with colleagues across the UK on a wide range of issues. This is particularly important at the moment, as we are in the process of defining and will soon implement a new strategy.
As an experienced senior leader you will have experience of working collaboratively, and constructively. As part of the Scotland Management Team, you will be a senior and visible leader in the Scotland Directorate. You will make operational as well as strategic decisions to contribute to a well-functioning directorate, and demonstrate through your actions and behaviours, the values of our directorate. You will also be helping to drive the strategic direction of our grant making ensuring that it aligns with our corporate goals and values, and our new Strategy. You will need to be an excellent communicator, able to translate a vision into reality, and able to take people and teams on the journey with you.
You will have experience of building and leading teams and driving a culture of inclusion through your ability to support, coach, inspire, and empower people. Your ability to build, manage and maintain excellent relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders will be second to none, encouraging collaboration, will lead to you being seen as a valued informer and influencer.
You will be able to work jointly across the third sector, with our stakeholders, grant holders and fellow funders, and with local and national government, supporting the Knowledge and Learning team to do the same. You will have knowledge and awareness of EDI issues and show strong emotional intelligence.
You will have strong research or evaluation skills, and confidence in designing research and evaluative work, drawing on different and proportionate methodologies to gather data and drive evidence-based decision making, at all levels.
You will have excellent people management skills and be able to lead and manage a Knowledge and Learning team of 5 people, working on diverse thematic issues, supporting them to design processes and gather data, as well as analyse and present learning, in the most useful and effective ways.
You will have project management skills and previous experience of external contract management to support research and evaluation work, would be beneficial to you in this role.
You will advise colleagues and decision-makers on how funding can achieve the greatest impact, leading our analysis of patterns of past grant-making, learning about effective practice and knowledge of the wider policy context.
