Who are we?

Deaf Action is a deaf-led charity, supporting and celebrating deaf people. We were established in 1835 and work with deaf people across Scotland and the South of England. Our work is geared towards empowering all deaf people to achieve their potential and fully participate in society, with equality of rights, access and opportunity.

In August 2022, we launched the inaugural Edinburgh Deaf Festival, celebrating and showcasing deaf arts and culture, proving the arts can be accessible to all. It was a resounding success as we welcomed thousands of visitors. The festival made a splash on the BBC, STV and the Guardian – we’re hoping this year will be even better. Planning for the 2023 Edinburgh Deaf Festival is already underway, and we need a talented marketer to join the team.

About you

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic thinker to join our team on a fixed term basis as Festival Marketing Coordinator. You will be someone with marketing, communications and social media experience who can help raise the profile of the Edinburgh Deaf Festival.

You should be competent in digital marketing, social media, communications, with working knowledge of WordPress, Canva and Microsoft Office packages. We're looking for someone with experience of executing marketing plans, and who has excellent project management skills. The ability to work proactively, prioritise work and meet deadlines is essential, as we’re a busy team.

Knowledge of British Sign Language is desired but not essential. Applications from people in the deaf community are welcomed.

The role

This role will lead on the delivery of the festival marketing plan. This role sits within the marketing team, so you’ll have the support of the Marketing Manager, and two Marketing Executives who work across all of Deaf Action’s services. Our marketing plan is integral to the success of the festival, and you’ll be responsible for promoting the festival to diverse audiences.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading on the delivery of festival marketing activities
• Support the production of the festival programme (digital and print)
• Managing the festival’s social media calendar and accounts, creating and scheduling posts
• Responding to comments, engaging in discussions and social listening on all platforms
• Keeping the Edinburgh Deaf Festival website up to date
• Working with external partners to promote accessible performances
• Developing marketing toolkits to support artists to promote their own shows
• Work with deaf artists and Festival Ambassador to promote the festival in the media
• Liaising with external agencies, including PR/Comms, designers, photographers and videographers
• Monitoring analytics to measure and improve digital marketing activities
• End of festival reporting

Your job will support people who have learning disabilities to make progress towards and achieve employment. You will work closely with a group of people who have learning disabilities each year, profiling their skills and jointly planning activity that will enable them to achieve their work goals and become independent, active members of their community.

You will be responsible for developing positive relationships with the programme participants, their circles of support and professional support services.

You will work closely with local partners, including employers, funders and other stakeholders, developing professional relationships that will offer a diverse range of experiences and opportunities.

You will be given a work plan to achieve in order that programme participants are receiving a quality service and we are achieving the expectations of funders and stakeholders, and you will be required to meet challenging but achievable programme KDIs.

As an important member of the wider ENABLE Works team, you will be supporting departmental objectives through delivery of support but also through positive collaboration and innovation within your team to support our strategic, societal goals.

A full UK drivers licence and access to a car for work purposes is essential for this role

Main Duties and Accountabilities

Providing high quality support:

• Regular and accurate profiling of skills and recording of participant activity

• Active case management to ensure person-centred success

• Delivering support with fidelity to the individual project model

• Delivery of structured training to individuals and groups of participants

• Maintaining positive relationships with participants and their circles of support to ensure inclusive success

• Managing professional relationships with stakeholders and employers to create opportunities for participants

Delivering projects to plan:

• Keeping accurate and up-to-date records ready for audit

• Recording and gathering project information in line with project timescales and work plan

• Handling and storing project information in line with ENABLE Scotland’s data protection policy

• Reporting accurately on project activity when requested and in line with project timescales

Meeting performance expectations:

• Active case management to ensure participants are achieving success

• Meeting and exceeding individual project expectations

• Innovating and collaborating across your team to support wider ENABLE Works performance

Contribution to strategy:

• Sharing best practice and opportunities with ENABLE Works colleagues

• Positive and flexible response to changes in work plans

• Collaborative approach to team and departmental delivery

• Managing your time/caseload efficiently in order to respond to additional duties as required

• Supporting the training and marking of accredited staff training

About You

Full clean driving license is essential and access to a car for business purposes

You will have significant working knowledge of the Edinburgh region and key employability stakeholders and sectors

A PDA in Supported Employment is desirable

Sight Scotland Veterans provides support to all veterans in Scotland who are experiencing changes to their sight.

We are now hiring an Assistive Technology Lead.

The job will, therefore, lead and be responsible for planning, managing and developing Assistive Technology across Sight Scotland Veterans ensuring it is the “golden thread” that runs through all our services for both staff and veterans. This will include the development of an Assistive Technology strategy and business model, as well as integrating IT and Assistive Technology.

Building relationships with key stakeholders, organisations and product developers is key in order to ensure the most current provision of assistive technology is available across the organisation.

This role will support the delivery of the Sight Scotland Strategy specifically in building our knowledge of Assistive Technology and the aids available to transform lives. This knowledge will allow us to continue informing and supporting veteran’s independent living.

We are recruiting for one full-time Team Leader who share our values and has the experience and skills to support adults with learning disabilities to participate in meaningful work within our day service. You should also have the skills to manage a small staff team and co-ordinate activities within the group which meet the needs of individual members and which are in keeping with Tiphereth’s mission statement, Camphill values and the aims of the Peregrine and Estates group.

The post is based in the Peregrine and Estates Group who have a therapeutic approach is providing meaningful outdoor work opportunities which are of direct benefit to the Tiphereth and wider community. One group stays at Tiphereth each day to tend to our community Estate and one group goes out and about to our partner organisations to do community gardening and conservation work. Partner organisations include the Cyrenians at Linburn Walled Garden, The Water of Leith Conservation Trust, Jock Tamson’s Gairden, The Hermitage of Braid and Duddingston Community Land.

Experience or a knowledge of environmental and conservation work is essential as well as the practical skills to undertake this work. Previous experience of working with adults with learning disabilities is also essential, as is a good understanding of autism and the needs of people who use different forms of communication and a confidence in working with people with behaviour that challenges.

It is essential that candidates have a full, valid driving licence and are comfortable driving an 8 seat minibus.

Tiphereth is a Camphill community based on the edge of the Pentland hills in Edinburgh supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism in a range of day services, supported living, residential care, and social enterprises.
