Role
UHI Perth is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands.
UHI Perth is currently recruiting for a new external, independent Chair of the Board of Management and various Independent Board Members to join the governing body charged with overseeing the operation of the College. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with recent senior-level background in finance, accountancy, or corporate governance.
A position on our Board requires commitment to the work of the College and the community, an interest in the post-16 education sector, and effective communication and analytical skills.
Membership is voluntary and unpaid, but brings huge rewards to members - input can make a real difference to the education and prospects of our learners and to the wellbeing and success of the communities where they live.
Attendance at meetings of the Board and Committees is required, usually early evening, and reasonable travel costs for Board business are reimbursed.

About us:
A registered SCIO, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Perth and Kinross Association (PKDofE) provides young people and families in the Perth and Kinross local authority region with unique opportunities to discover themselves and build the confidence and skills they need to realise their potential.
Since August 2018 we have embarked on a unique and ambitious programme of direct, close support work with young people called the Starfish Way. Thanks to the wonderful owners of Megginch Castle, near Errol, the young people we support can enjoy the space and tranquillity of the walled garden, orchard, and wilder spaces of the estate whilst working towards certificated Awards.
Together, the Starfish Way, Megginch Castle and our team of dedicated and compassionate staff offer a safe, therapeutic and beautifully nurturing learning environment where young people can feel secure, find hope, grow in confidence and ultimately thrive and achieve.
By the end of a season with us, the vast majority of young people achieve either a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, a John Muir Award, a First Aid certificate, a Saltire Award or a National Navigation Award. Often, more than one! Even just completing a section of an award can be a truly remarkable achievement which they may never have believed possible before, but which opens up a world of new possibilities and opportunities to them.
Our Board of Trustees:
At PKDofE, we have a wonderful team of hard working staff, a heart to make a difference, and a vision of how to do it. At the helm is a small but energetic Board of charity trustees who come from different backgrounds and bring a broad range of skills and experience to the organisation. The Board meets 4 times a year whilst also engaging with each other and staff digitally and in person on a regular basis.
Role and requirements:
We are seeking to grow our board and expand its skillset with enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated people who care deeply about helping young people to become the best they can be. As we move ahead and seek to deliver our new strategy, you will join at an exciting time.
We welcome interest from all career stages and backgrounds but we are particularly keen to recruit two individuals at this time with expertise in either Human Resources, Scottish charity governance or fundraising. Being a Duke of Edinburgh or John Muir Award holder is not a necessity, but an understanding and appreciation of the Award schemes is important.
Being located in the central belt of Scotland is preferred, however, not essential as digital attendance at meetings is available. The role is non-remunerated but reasonable expenses can be reimbursed with any training and induction provided.

Science and Conservation Trustees

This is a voluntary position but offers an exciting opportunity to assist a dynamic charity to develop its conservation and science work in the UK.
Description: The Trust is looking for two Trustees with expertise in science and conservation to join our Board. Trustees work well together, and with the executive team with a spirit of openness and trust. We recruit individuals passionate about nature, species conservation and bumblebees. We’re very proud of our inclusive culture at the Trust – we care as much about what you have the potential to do as what you have already done, we want to hear how your lived experience will give us a better representation of the diverse audiences we seek to inspire to take action for bumblebees. We are keen to hear from people early in their careers as well as those well established.

The Board currently meet bi-monthly, with office bearers meeting in between board meetings. Meetings currently take place in the evening, online.
We also have another vacancy within the Board of Directors – we welcome interest from community members who share our values and believe that everyone has the right to be heard, but we would be particularly keen to hear from individuals who have experience in law or marketing.

The manager will oversee the work of the Perth and Kinross Foodbank, ensuring a high quality, consistent, non-judgmental service is provided to local people in need of support.
The Manager will be accountable for achieving the Foodbank Strategic Plan, (developed in conjunction with the Board), building the reputation and profile of Perth and Kinross Foodbank, managing the external and internal operations, including line-management of staff, and providing consistent high-level advice to the Board on operations, policy and
planning.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the successful applicant will be highly motivated, with proven personal and organisational skills, the ability to provide supportive management of staff and volunteers, and with a commitment to equality, diversity and respect. Writing and IT skills will be essential. An ability to use social media to promote the Foodbank will be an advantage. Current UK driving licence and willingness to drive essential, as is an understanding and support of the Vision and Values of the Trussell Trust to which the Foodbank is affiliated.
