This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Regional Family Support Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality support to people with family members resident in HMP Barlinnie, HMP Shotts, HMP Low Moss and HMP Kilmarnock, HMP Dumfries, HMP Greenock, HMP Addiewell or those living across the West of Scotland who may have family members in prison elsewhere in Scotland.

The Role

Our Regional Manager will:

• Lead a team of staff and social work students to provide 1:1, family work in family homes, community venues, prison, and/or prison visitor centres

• Liaise and contribute to key local and community forums such as Community Planning Partnerships, Third Sector Interface meetings, or Local Authority partners’ meetings

• Create and develop a range of support services to meet the local need across the East of Scotland.

Families Outside is the only national charity in Scotland that works solely to support families affected by imprisonment. Imprisonment can often have a huge impact on the things that matter most to families: money and secure housing, safe and connected relationships at home and in the community, and the emotional health and wellbeing of families. Families Outside is dedicated to providing a range of practical, social, and emotional support to people with someone in prison that are relationship-based, prison-aware, and family-focused.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced practitioner with a deep knowledge and understanding of children’s learning and development as well as the challenges facing our families across our communities.

This rewarding role will support and coordinate a small childcare team within a childcare setting as well as provide support to individual children aged 0-3 years within their homes who have require support in their physical, social and emotional skills and are experiencing attachment difficulties such as separation anxieties.

As well as supporting individual children to reach their full potential, this role will enable parents to be individually supported to gain a better understanding of their children’s needs empowering them to improve their children’s development by using strategies and activities that they can incorporate within their daily lives.

This role will also support the Team Manager of the centre to develop a broad range of learning activities which are specific to the needs of vulnerable children and their families

Minimum Qualifications required are: HNC Childcare and Education, SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) , HNC Childhood Practice or relevant childcare qualification

AND

Minimum practice experience: 3 years’ in a similar role

A certificate in Food Handling and First Aid are also desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to carry out an important role within an innovative partnership between Children 1st and East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

The East Renfrewshire Family Wellbeing Service offers support to help improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people aged 8-18, and their families.

We are currently looking for a new colleague to join the team. In the Project Worker role you will connect with children and their families who are looking for help and support; offering them space and time to begin to share their story and thinking with them about what they might need to help things feel better.

We offer a range of different supports for children and families, including individual and family support; facilitated and peer led group supports and befriending relationships. This is an exciting yet demanding role which will require you to get alongside children and their families where, when and how best suits them. We want to be able to offer children and families the right support at the right time.

You will be based in our Giffnock office, with some flexibility to work at home when this suits the needs of families and/or the service.

Salary, Conditions, Pension

Hours

This is a fixed term, full time post of 35 hours per week to cover a period of maternity leave until 31 January 2024. Hours to be worked flexibly across the week to meet the needs of families and the service. However, Wednesdays are our ‘core day’ when essential service activities take place such as team meetings.

Home-Start Edinburgh is a volunteer-led charity with over 35 years-experience working in local communities, supporting families with a child under 5 in the home. We are currently recruiting for the role of Family Support Co-ordinator. Whilst our Head Office is in Leith, the successful applicant will be required to support volunteers and families in one of Edinburgh’s four localities.

This role will be tasked will support families, predominantly through the network of volunteers they recruit, support and train. They will also be expected to contribute to the wider operation and further development of the scheme.

The post-holder will work with the other Family Support Co-ordinators, as well as other staff, to ensure families receive holistic, high quality support. They will contribute to the ongoing training and development of volunteers, including delivery of the Volunteer Prep course, as well as networking with other local organisations.
