About the role
At Sustrans, we are proud of our commitment to creating happier places and healthier lives for everyone.
Join us as a Senior Evaluation Officer, where you will use both your research and project management skills to work on a range of exciting monitoring, evaluation, analysis and research projects within our Research and Monitoring Unit.
Sustrans’ Research and Monitoring Unit is a leading centre of excellence in active travel research, monitoring and evaluation. Our team work closely with partners from across the UK to ensure we have a clear understanding of the impact of our work and the wider context of the benefits of active travel.
Your work will produce evidence on active travel that is transparent and authoritative, helping to shape policy, practice and behaviour across the UK.
In this role, you will be helping make a difference by working on the Places for Everyone programme, Sustrans’ grant fund for active travel infrastructure in Scotland.
Enjoying a diverse workload, you will lead a small team in supporting Places for Everyone partners. You will provide guidance and deliver monitoring and evaluation on a range of active travel infrastructure projects, particularly in Edinburgh, to help demonstrate their impact.
You will also join a team evaluating the Places for Everyone programme. You will contribute by conducting programme-wide analysis and supporting research to evaluate and report on the contribution towards Transport Scotland’s Active Travel Framework and Sustrans’ strategic priority of Liveable Cities and Towns for Everyone.
You will be responsible for delivering monitoring and evaluation to the expected standards. This includes project management of time and budgets for yourself and a small team (three to five people) with the support of an Evaluation Manager.
About you
We are looking for excellent communicators and creative thinkers with the ability to manage and motivate people and get the best out of others.
You will use your exceptional analytical skills and draw on your previous experience in both project management and using a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods to apply your skills to real-world projects.
So, if you have a track record of scoping, designing, budgeting and reporting on research and evaluation projects, this could be the role for you.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who understands the benefits of active and sustainable travel.
