Role
Purpose of role
Key member of the Human Resources Team, reporting to the Head of HR, being responsible for first line HR support and advice to managers on all people policies and processes on a day-to-day basis across Capella, supporting Teens+ and Sleep Scotland.
Responsible for leading HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including but not limited to; recruitment and induction, HR administration, absence management, employee relations, providing information to payroll as well as undertaking project work.
We have created this new role to support the HR function of the charity. In this role, you will provide professional HR advice and support to ensure the delivery of a pro-active, solutions focused HR service aligned to the organisational objectives and values. You’ll act as HR lead on case work, working closely with managers in the adoption of appropriate and pro-active HR solutions

We’re keen to hear from candidates who have a proven track record in HR at a professional level within a complex operating environment. The successful candidate will have experience of providing high quality advice and guidance on a range of HR matters, including the application of HR policy, as well as a track record of handling an HR case work portfolio. You’ll have a well-developed knowledge of HR best practice and employment legislation, and the ability to adopt a consultancy style, HR business partnering approach, with proven influencing, judgement, analytical and problem solving ability.

Creating a positive experience for all our volunteers is important to us at CHAS and with our ambition to reach more families across Scotland, we are passionate about inspiring more people to join our growing volunteer movement.
To help us grow and diversify our volunteering programme, we are recruiting a Volunteering Development Manager to lead the development of volunteering strategy within Robin House in Balloch and with the CHAS Outreach Teams. As a senior member of the Volunteering team, you will champion a quality volunteer experience and lead innovation by inspiring, educating and motivating staff in all aspects of volunteering development.
As the Volunteering Development Manager, you will work closely with teams in Robin House and Outreach to deliver the very best volunteer offer and experience, introducing new ideas and approaches to volunteering to ensure our volunteers continue to play a major role in the success of CHAS reaching more families across Scotland.
You will partner staff to manage volunteers effectively, promoting the volunteer voice and the delivery of a positive volunteer experience. Working with senior leaders, you will support them to involve volunteers in their teams in order to provide CHAS services for children and families.
You will have experience of developing a positive culture of volunteer involvement, innovation, and continuous improvement as well as experience of shaping volunteering within third or public sector organisations. You can also comfortably demonstrate experience of working across teams and have the ability to forge productive collaborative relationships.
This role will be based at Robin House with the opportunity to work from other CHAS sites or from home as needed.

As a Volunteering Development Manager, you will be instrumental in achieving this vision.
We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic and practical individual to join our small team to deliver community gardening. A person with a keen interest in therapeutic gardening who likes to collaborate and work with other teams to deliver a special wellbeing environment for children, families and visitors to the Hospice.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with line manager, Head of service, Robin Hospice gardeners, and key stakeholders (Volunteering and Activities Teams, children and parents, children's/clinical service staff) to deliver a shared vision and programme of works for the development of the garden space.
- Work closely with the Activities Team to provide gardening activity opportunities.
- Ensure garden and outdoor areas are looking their best throughout the seasons
- Plan a programme of annual gardening and outdoor work
- Help recruit/ supervise a volunteer group of gardeners to maintain the garden and outdoor areas
- Identify, devise and delegate tasks suitable for volunteers, corporate volunteer groups to undertake in garden (Employee Supported Volunteers) relative to their needs and experience.

- Be caring
- Have a passion and enthusiasm for working outdoors and education and an ability to share it with others
- Take pride in their work and be willing to work with others to ensure jobs are completed to the highest of standards.
- Have a person-centred approach, strong organisational and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain the garden, with volunteer help.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Qualification in horticulture or agriculture to SVQ Level 3 at SCQF Level 6 equivalent
- PA/PA6A National Certificate in herbicide, insecticide and spraying or equivalent
- Basic engineering and building maintenance skills
- Experience in gardening and grounds maintenance
- Experience in the use of technical and non-technical horticultural equipment and machinery

The successful candidate will join Scottish Huntington’s Association at an exciting time as we prepare to launch Standing Tall: A Strategy for Growth 2023 – 28 to transform the care and support available to Huntington’s families.
This follows two years of expansion in specialist teams, increased funding, a rise in media engagement, growth in parliamentary support for our work, and the success of our ground-breaking Dance 100 event in Glasgow.
Our Huntington’s Disease Specialists provide care management, specialist assessment and emotional support to individuals, and their families, throughout the Lothian area. The small team works in partnership with local Health and Social Care teams, and provides advice, training and education to professionals and voluntary agencies involved in all aspects of HD care. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and who will have a positive influence on the quality of life of the individuals on their caseload.
We invite applications from experienced individuals from an allied health professional, nursing or social work background and you must have a current professional body membership. Previous experience of working with Huntington’s disease is preferred, but not essential. We will provide you with all the condition-specific knowledge you need.
The successful candidate should be able to work autonomously in this challenging and innovative post. Good listening, communication and interpersonal skills are vital, as are excellent time keeping and caseload management abilities. Community-based practice knowledge, a current driving licence and the use of a car complete our list of essential criteria. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced disclosure check.

About you
We are looking for an exceptional self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills who will be required to present and research topics with high attention to details and accuracy. The role holder should be educated to degree level with experience in project and process administration and delivering pieces of work to time, budget and standards agreed. You will need to have an understanding of accreditation processes or other quality systems as well as general health and cancer knowledge.
