We are seeking an Independent Advocacy Worker who has a passion to support local people to have their voices heard and taken into account.

Ideally the person will have experience of working alongside people with disabilities.

The candidate must have experience or interest in supporting and advocating for others. It is essential they are committed to: Human Rights; Social Justice, and; the Principles, Standards & Code of Best Practice for Independent Advocacy.

We are looking for a person with excellent communication and IT skills, who can work independently and also as part of a team.

The post is considered regulated work so is subject to membership of the PVG scheme. Access to a car and ability to travel throughout Angus and further afield is essential.

The Board currently meet bi-monthly, with office bearers meeting in between board meetings. Meetings currently take place in the evening, online.

We also have another vacancy within the Board of Directors – we welcome interest from community members who share our values and believe that everyone has the right to be heard, but we would be particularly keen to hear from individuals who have experience in law or marketing.

Looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual to join our small team of advocacy workers. Based in Galashiels, travel throughout Borders required, option of hybrid working may be available. Must have a good understanding of the Scottish Childrens Hearing System and legislation impacting children and young people. All young people are entitled to advocacy support to ensure their views, voices and rights are upheld when important decisions are being taken about their lives. Excellent communication and listening skills essential. Background in advocacy, childrens services or social work preferred but not essential. Clean driving licence and access to own transport required. The post is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. This post is initially for 12 months but likely to receive ongoing funding through Scottish Government. 21 hours per week with potential to increase subject to funding.

‘Connect to Community’ is part of Bethany Christian Trust and seeks to support men and women leaving prison to achieve their goals and to build a positive pathway after prison, by providing a relationship that integrates people in to their local community.

As the demand for this service grows geographically, we are looking for a candidate who will strengthen and develop our existing service. A significant part of the role will be to facilitate volunteer mentoring by working in partnership with churches and other organisations across the wider area of Fife, Dundee and Perth.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team alongside the Referrals and Communications Worker and under the supervision of the Community Reintegration Coordinator.

Starting salary for a successful candidate with an SVQ3 in a relevant qualification would be £25,101 (pro rata).
