We have new and exciting opportunity to join the Partnerships Team as a Senior Project Officer. Reporting to the National Partnerships Manager at Sustrans and embedded within the Placemaking Team at Scottish Canals you will support delivery of shared priorities for Placemaking and active travel across the canal network.

Working closely alongside other teams across Scotland, you will develop and implement an Active Travel Strategy for Scottish Canals. You will develop a strategic funding pipeline that reflects this strategy and the placemaking priorities within the Scottish Canals Corporate plan. You will identify and develop long term match funding opportunities for the active travel programme, including liaising with funders to discuss potential projects and submitting funding applications.

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and partners and identify opportunities to align policy aims and increase investment in active travel and placemaking.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Scottish Canals.

Candidates should be based within the geographical area with the expectation of working 4 days a week with Scottish Canals (office or home based) and a day a week with Sustrans Scotland at either hub in Edinburgh or Glasgow, or home based.

About you

You should be an experienced Project Manager with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will have the ability to work in partnership and build relationships with local authorities, other stakeholders and local communities.

A strong team member, you will also have the ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.

Competency in using GIS (geographic information system) mapping would be advantageous.

We ask you to demonstrate your knowledge of the funding environment, identifying new opportunities writing applications, bids, and proposals.
