Venture Scotland offers an outdoor-based personal development programme which empowers young people aged 16-30, who face complex and difficult challenges in their lives and want help to change.

We are seeking a Community Fundraiser (who identifies with our values of Trust, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Environment and Personal Development) to help support the fundraising team to expand and diversify our income streams to ensure our organisations is sustainable into the future.

The role will include taking a lead on community fundraising engagement plus donor stewardship of the following funding streams –corporate, individual giving and community – and help increase income in these streams.

To be successful in the role, you will have experience in securing income within the voluntary sector or another sector if you are able to demonstrate transferable skills. You will be someone who is able to identify, establish and retain new partnerships.

To support capacity building within the third sector in Dundee to access funding from funders, leveraging money into the city.

This includes:

• Lobbying in relation to future funding; leading on external funding bids for third sector organisations; co-ordinating the development of project business plans as required; supporting and facilitating partnership bids within the Third Sector.

• Establishing strategic funding relationships; maximising funding opportunities available to Third Sector organisations to support Dundee City Plan priorities and Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership outcomes and to better the lives of people and communities across Dundee.

Working for a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP)

MSPs are employers in their own right. Under their employment, you will become part of a team supporting them in carrying out their duties. You'll work in a dynamic and fast paced environment to provide an outstanding service for constituents.

Key Responsibilities

• Engaging with constituents, responding to public enquiries and managing cases through to completion.

- Keeping cases up to date by tracking, logging and recognising when to escalate issues within team.

- Meeting constituents on a wide range of issues, including those of a sensitive nature

• Advocating on constituent’s behalf with relevant bodies to resolve matters.

• Attending surgeries, producing reports, briefing me and drafting responses

• Reviewing constituent records and documentation in line with casework GDPR requirements.

- Ensuring casework filing systems, both electronic and manual, are kept up-to-date in line with GDPR requirements.

• Providing office and administrative support and representing on my behalf as and when required.

- Monitoring and regularly reporting on office budgets and dealing with constituency utility accounts.

About You

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a casework-type role, in supporting people making representations or in engaging as a professional with bodies such as the NHS, social security agencies and social work, would be desirable.

• Have excellent organisational skills while being flexible in prioritising workloads during busy times.

• Have excellent communications skills, with accurate attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with colleagues.

• Be patient and sensitive while remaining objective and open minded.

• Be confident in managing budgets

• Be comfortable being in a front facing role explaining regulations such as GDPR to the general public.

• Be acutely aware of the responsibility of representing those unable to do so themselves in certain situations.

• Have a natural interest in helping people with a curiosity to probe for further information where required.
