Since 1995, BIAS has been the main provider of independent advocacy for adult users of health and social care in Scottish Borders. We provide professional, 1:1 independent advocacy to a wide range of client groups across the Scottish Border, predominantly to individuals affected by statutory interventions e.g. Mental Health (Care & Treatment) Act, Adults with Incapacity, Adult Support & Protection. Due to the geographical challenges of our region, most client contacts are face to face, often in their own homes, and also a variety of care settings, so there is a significant amount of travel involved in delivering our service.
