Role

We are looking for a new Administrative Co-ordinator in an exciting opportunity to support an environmental charity working with local churches of all denominations in addressing climate change by “caring and acting for God’s creation”.

This is a timely and key role supporting Scotland’s churches as national church bodies commit to Net Zero carbon emissions over the coming decade and look to build a just, green future.

Currently celebrating our 21st anniversary year, Eco-Congregation Scotland has grown to become the largest movement of community-based environment groups in Scotland with over 600 registered eco-congregations.

Our funding currently comes from the Scottish Government - supporting its Net Zero Nation public engagement strategy for climate change - along with the Church of Scotland, Scottish Episcopal Church, United Reformed Church, Christian Aid, Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, membership fees and donations from our supporters.

This role is ideal for someone who has excellent attention to detail, good administration skills and is available now for part-time, flexible work from home.

The successful candidate will be responsible for general office administration and the charity’s membership database.

Experience of using Microsoft Access database or constituent/customer relationship management software would be beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.

Main duties

  • General office administration, handling correspondence, taking messages, answering and making phone calls
  • Processing membership applications and contacting churches or volunteers to update contact details and gather information on their environmental activities
  • Processing, updating and maintaining information using database software
  • Organising, arranging and co-ordinating meetings or events
  • Supporting trustees and staff in delivering the charity’s programme with local networks of churches and volunteers across Scotland

Key skills and attributes

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good administrative skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good standard of computer literacy and ability to use various software packages including Zoom and Teams
  • Sound organisational ability and effective time management skills
  • Ability to use own initiative to plan and prioritise workload
  • Interest in environmental issues and an awareness of Scotland’s churches
