Who are we?

VoiceAbility is an independent charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy and involvement services. We deliver a wide range of service contracts funded by local authorities, Government, health trusts and other voluntary and private sector organisations.

We’ve been supporting people to have their say in decisions about their health, care, and wellbeing for over 40 years. We make sure people are heard when it matters most.

About the role

Due to contract growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate in Fife, to deliver and develop Social Security Scotland Advocacy. This is a permanent role, working full time, 35 hours a week.

Your role will be home based for telephone referrals and administrative tasks, and you will travel around your area to meet the demands of the service which includes networking with providers for signposting opportunities. Some areas may include remote locations without easy access to public transport; therefore, access to other forms of transport may be required. This could be in a client’s own homes and other suitable community venues across the Fife and occasionally the Dundee area.

About You

We are ready to support candidates to achieve excellent Advocacy Standards and gain advocacy experience.

You may have some experience of working, supporting, or caring for Adults or young people who have multiple support need, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education, training, benefits, employment, care and support.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for ensuring the individual’s wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are met to create positive outcomes for the people you support.

You will support people to speak up for themselves and grow in confidence, equip them to understand and exercise their rights and options, and will assist them in the decision-making process relating to accessing Scotland’s social security services.

You will work resourcefully and collaboratively with the individuals you support. You’ll be creative in your approach to empowerment by ensuring you meaningfully explain people’s options and rights to them. You’ll support individuals to fully participate in decisions affecting them and will make sure they have their voices heard.

What will you receive?

You will have plenty of opportunities to enhance your abilities and will make a real difference every day and offer support with professional development.
