Role

Fife Carers Centre is a well-regarded and well established organisation who have been supporting thousands of family and unpaid carers throughout Fife since 1995. We work with adult carers on a one to one basis and in groups. We support carers in their caring role with relevant and straightforward information as well as practical help. We give information and the means to use it to carers on a wide range of topics from applying for benefits to learning more about the condition affecting the person you care for. Most importantly we will work with the carer to protect their own physical, emotional, mental and financial health whilst they maintain their caring role.

We now have an opportunity to bring in new members to our team to meet the ever growing need to support unpaid carers in new and diverse ways.

You will be working as part of the Localities Carer Support Worker Team covering the Kirkcaldy and NE Fife localities. Your case will be in Kirkcaldy but you will also be working from home and in the community.

You will be based at the Fife Carers Centre in Kirkcaldy but as part of normal work will be expected to travel throughout Fife, particularly Kirkcaldy and NE Fife areas.

Your work will include providing a sensitive, person centred support service for unpaid and family carers. You’ll be assisting carers to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing by providing carers with a comprehensive information service to enable them to make informed choices about their own emotional, physical and economic wellbeing. This will include giving one to one support to carers in order that they know how to access services helping them to develop self advocacy and, where necessary, advocate on the carers behalf. You’ll be supporting carers to identify and achieve their own outcomes using the Carer Support Planning process and providing carers with a benefit check, assisting with benefit applications and very importantly providing a listening ear for carers.

The post is part time for 28 hours a week.
