The North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub is fully funded by the Scottish Government and is one of a network which will be established across Scotland to offer networking, support and encouragement of community led climate action. The vision for the Hub is to support and empower communities to develop local solutions to make the transition to net zero and climate resilient living through empowerment and capacity building in communities throughout the region. The Hub has been operating since September 2021 as a pathfinder project and has now secured up to 3 years funding from the Scottish Government. Thurso Community Development Trust are the current operators of the Hub and it recently moved to being its own Community Interest Company, North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub CIC where a membership will be built throughout the region to support onward governance.

The role of Development Officer will be to contribute towards the delivery of the North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub CIC successfully for the Scottish Government supported by the Project Manager and Climate Hub team. The role will support communities throughout the region to collaborate, network and assist community groups in design, development and delivery of community led climate action projects. This may involve signposting to local TSI’s for governance support, to other support services and additional climate action themed organisations.
